🗣️ O čem se bude na Press Play Prague mluvit?
❓ DEBATA: Může dobrá žurnalistika zachránit demokracii?
Na debatu dorazí Johana Hovorková, Jaroslav Veis, Vojtěch Boháč a Kateřina Mahdalová, moderuje Jakub Patočka
⭐ Johana Hovorková je od února 2023 šéfredaktorkou deníku FORUM 24. V roce 2015 nastoupila do tehdejšího Svobodného fóra, projektu Pavla Šafra, který vznikl jako reakce na změny na českém mediálním trhu. Stála u přerodu názorové platformy v regulérní zpravodajský web i u založení tištěných novin FORUM 24+. Je autorkou knižního rozhovoru s Miroslavou Němcovou, spoluautorkou knih Obrana před Babišem a Vyprávěj mi o komunismu a v letošním roce editorský připravila publikaci Trump 2.0. Absolvovala žurnalistiku a mediální studia na FSV UK, je vdaná a má dceru.
⭐ Vojtěch Boháč je český novinář, působil také jako válečný reportér. Je zakladatelem a šéfredaktorem online zpravodajského magazínu Voxpot. Jeho hlavním zaměřením je východní Evropa, ale věnoval se také válce na Donbasu, v Afghánistánu, na Balkáně a na severním Kavkaze. Než založil Voxpot, pracoval pro The Moscow Times a psal pro Reportér, Deník Referendum i další česká média.
⭐ Jaroslav Veis je český spisovatel, publicista, novinář a překladatel. V minulosti pracoval v nakladatelství Svoboda i jako odborný asistent v Ústavu světové ekonomiky Československé akademie věd. Ve své novinářské práci se věnoval popularizací vědy a techniky, je rovněž autorem řady vědeckofantastických povídek. Za populárně vědecké články do různých periodik obdržel roku 1976 cenu Československé akademie věd. Působil jako redaktor časopisu Sedmička pionýrů, nakladatelství Mladá fronta a Lidových novin, kde se později stal šéfredaktorem. Po ročním stipendiu ve Spojených státech nastoupil do redakce Rádia Svobodná Evropa v Praze, vědeckého časopisu KMIT a do Centra nezávislé žurnalistiky. Kromě mediální a spisovatelské praxe působil jako poradce předsedy a později místopředsedy Senátu Parlamentu České republiky Petra Pitharta.
⭐ Kateřina Mahdalová je česká datová novinářka a analytička. Dlouhodobě se věnuje mnoha různým okruhům témat, zejména pak volební analytice, exekucím, demografii, sociálním tématům nebo analýze médií a genderovému zastoupení. Působí také na poli mediální gramotnosti a otevírání dat.
🎤 Jakub Patočka je zakladatelem, vydavatelem a šéfredaktorem českého online deníku Deník Referendum, předního českého média zaměřeného na analytické zpravodajství, komentáře, reportáže a investigativní žurnalistiku. V roce 1989 byl jedním ze zakladatelů organizace Hnutí DUHA – Přátelé Země Česká republika a stal se jejím prvním ředitelem. Od roku 1999 působí jako novinář a redaktor. Publikoval ve většině významných českých médií. Jeho texty vyšly také v mezinárodních médiích, jako jsou The Guardian, EU Observer, Lettre Internationale, Social Europe Journal, Green Europe Journal či Kultura Liberalna. V roce 2017 byl spoluautorem bestselleru Žlutý baron, který se zabývá propojením politických a ekonomických zájmů českého oligarchy a tehdejšího premiéra Andreje Babiše.

⭐ Johana Hovorková has been the editor-in-chief of the daily FORUM 24 since February 2023. In 2015, she joined what was then Svobodné fórum, a project by Pavel Šafr, which was created in response to changes in the Czech media market. She was involved in the transformation of the opinion platform into a regular news website, as well as in the founding of the printed newspaper FORUM 24+. She is the author of a book-length interview with Miroslava Němcová, co-author of the books Obrana před Babišem and Vyprávěj mi o komunismu, and this year she edited the publication Trump 2.0. She graduated in journalism and media studies from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University. She is married and has a daughter.
⭐ Vojtěch Boháč is a Czech journalist, who has also worked as a war reporter. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the online news magazine Voxpot. His main focus is on Eastern Europe, but he has covered the war in Donbas, Afghanistan, the Balkans, and the North Caucasus. Before founding Voxpot, he worked for The Moscow Times and wrote for Reporter and Deník Referendum, among other Czech media.
⭐ Jaroslav Veis is a Czech writer, publicist, journalist, and translator. In the past, he worked at the publishing house Svoboda and as an assistant lecturer at the Institute of World Economy of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. In his journalistic work, he focused on the popularization of science and technology, and he is also the author of numerous science fiction short stories. In 1976, he received an award from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences for his popular science articles published in various periodicals. He worked as an editor for the magazine Sedmička pionýrů, the publishing house Mladá fronta, and later for Lidové noviny, where he eventually became editor-in-chief. After a one-year fellowship in the United States, he joined the editorial staff of Radio Free Europe in Prague, the scientific journal KMIT, and the Center for Independent Journalism. In addition to his media and literary career, he also served as an advisor to Petr Pithart, then Chairman and later Vice-Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
⭐ Kateřina Mahdalová is a Czech data journalist and analyst. She has long been engaged in a wide range of topics, particularly electoral analysis, debt enforcement, demography, social issues, media analysis, and gender representation. She also works in the fields of media literacy and open data.
🎤Jakub Patočka is the founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Czech online daily Deník Referendum, a leading Czech media organization focused on analytical news, opinions, reporting and investigations. In 1989 he was one of the founders of Friends of the Earth Czech Republic and he became the first director of the organization. Since 1999 he works as a journalist and editor. He has published in most of the major Czech media. International media that published his texts include The Guardian, EU Observer, Lettre Internationale, Social Europe Journal, Green Europe Journal and Kultura Liberalna. In 2017 he co-authored the best-selling book The Yellow Baron investigating the links between political and economic interests of the Czech oligarch and Czech prime-minister Andrej Babiš.
