THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE CONTINENT WITH THE WORST FIGURES IN EUROPE

The current soap opera starring Babis, Blatny and co took another twist in recent days, as the opposition refused the prolonging of the State of Emergency, leaving us all in Limbo again. It’s no fun in Limbo!

Most countries have struggled to get to grips with this novel virus, but most have also stayed strong and united in their bid to ‘beat the bug’, but not the Czech government, and last weekend’s farcical antics really did make them the laughing stock of Europe.

It now looks like they might get an extra 14 days of the State of Emergency thanks to the regional governors, but the facts cannot be hidden, and the truth is that this soap opera is no nearer a happy ending now than it was at the start of the year. Let’s call a spade a spade - it’s a f**king sh*t show!

The photo attached shows how Czech Republic compares to the rest of Europe and the UK.....and it doesn’t make for pleasant viewing at all.

The figures show that Czech Republic is in last place by a long way when it comes to new cases per million population. The country is almost twice as bad as the nation in second last place (Estonia) and about 10 times worse that the country at the top of the list (Finland).

And all the while, more and more people lose their livelihoods and suffer depressing financial losses with no really effective compensation programmes.

Oh and their vaccination strategy…….what’s the point in even discussing that! DISGRACEFUL

The wonderful people at Rocky O´ Reillys Irish Pub have been hosting a free online Zoom quiz every Monday to cure the boredom for the staff and friends of Prague’s Irish Pubs.

We have teamed up with Rocky’s, as we also try to cure some of your boredom by publishing some of the questions from their Monday night quiz. Questions can be found in the pics attached to this post.

CZECH LADY WHO PERFORMED ORAL S*X OPENS HER MOUTH AGAIN

The Czech woman who hit the headlines last week after foiling an armed robber by performing oral s*x on him has opened her mouth again to speak out about her terrifying experience.

The incident happened at a petrol station in Bratislava. The 36-year-old Czech woman needed a ‘smoke’ and entered the establishment to buy ci******es. At that point, an armed man pointed a gun at the station assistant and demanded the contents of the cash register.

He then grabbed the Czech lady (who he believed to be an employee) and forced her into the back office to open the safe. It was then that the lady offered her version of ‘stiff’ resistance in the form of flirting.

“He said he would kill me and that he wanted money. He repeated it several times. At that moment, I couldn’t think of anything other than to take off my jacket and sweater and to show him my strengths,” said the woman.

She described the man (who turned out to be Serbian) as being very easy to seduce and went on to say that, “he began to undress and he demanded oral s*x from me, so I satisfied him. I knew that the pump staff would definitely deal with this situation and call the police”, she added.

She was right, because her selfless act allowed enough time for the police to get there and apprehend the man. No doubt the coppers arrested him for possession of swollen (sorry, I meant stolen) goods.

Czech Vaccine Gets A Shot In The Arm!
Locally Produced Vaccine Could Be Ready in April

There was finally a bit of good news regarding vaccines in the Czech Republic, as it emerged yesterday that a vaccine developed by the Novavax Company which is based in the village of Bohumil (40km from Prague) could be ready by April.

The vaccine is said to have 90% effectiveness and can be stored in a regular refrigerator.

Up until now, the Czech vaccination strategy has been a bit of a sh*t-show, but hopefully this will provide a much-needed shot in the arm (no pun intended).

Unfortunately the PES risk number went up to 73 on Sunday, due to the increase in the R Number to 1.01.

Vaccine Roll-Out Is A Complete Shambles!

The Czech Republic’s vaccination programme continues to disappoint. In fact, it is bordering on being a downright shambles!

Yesterday, medical staff in the country administered 13.190 doses of the vaccine. That means one in every 807 people in the Czech population received a vaccine on Thursday. The total number of vaccinations since the programme began now stands at 170.670.

Compare the Czech figures to those of the UK and it makes for very grim reading.

As of yesterday, the UK had administered almost 5 million first doses of the vaccine. On Wednesday alone, they performed 363.508 vaccinations. That means one in every 181 people in the UK population received a vaccine on that day…….4.5 times more per capita than the Czech Republic.

To make matters worse, it emerged this morning that many professional healthcare workers are refusing to take the vaccine, due to what they believe is misinformation.

Czech Player Still Holds The Record

Today’s sports headlines were dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo, as many popular websites including Sky Sports claimed that he became the highest goalscorer in history last night, overtaking Czech legend Josef Bican.

The Portuguese star scored his 760th official goal for club and country in Juventus 2-0 win over SSC Napoli, leading the world’s sports media to grant him the accolade of the top scorer in history.

However, Sky, Opta and many other media outlets didn’t do their research properly, as the Czech FA were quick to point out this afternoon.

Bican's tally actually stands at 821, meaning Ronaldo would have to score 62 more goals to become the top scorer in football history.

Needle In A Czech Haystack

Only Four European Countries Have Administered Less Vaccines

After a bright beginning, Babis and Co’s handling of the virus has been criticised by many. Since last Autumn, the figures deteriorated, but perhaps the worst number of all appeared on the Statistica website a few days ago, when it emerged that Czech Republic ranked 29th of 33 European countries when it came to COVID-19 vaccination doses administered in Europe as of January 18th. It literally seems to be akin to finding a needle in a haystack!

The United Kingdom had the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate in Europe having administered 6.65 doses per 100 people in the country. Denmark came in second with 2.94 vaccinations per 100 people, followed by Malta, Slovenia and Spain.

Czech Republic administered only 0.66 vaccinations per 100 people. Only Luxembourg, Netherlands, Serbia and Bulgaria managed a lower figure than that.

There is just no excuse. They should have been better prepared. More vaccines should have been ordered. More locations should have been secured. The vaccine reservation system should have been ready. Truly pathetic! The people will continue to pay for their shortcomings.

Dry January Could Become Dry February

Vaccination Strategy An Absolute Joke

The fact that bars were closed made life much easier for all those who opted to stay off the booze and endure a “Dry January”. And if recent evidence is anything to go by, they may be tempted to extend their sobriety throughout February.

All the recent signs seem to indicate that the closure of bars and restaurants will continue throughout February and perhaps well into March.

Despite a slight increase of the R number yesterday, the spread of the virus generally seems to be slowing down. However, the concern for the authorities is that the number of hospitalisations is still too great.

At present, there are more than 6.000 people hospitalised with Covid-19 and the Government has hinted that there will be no switch to Pes Level 4 until that number reaches the 4.000 mark. Furthermore, they have also indicated that the number should be closer to 2.000 before they consider allowing us to visit our favourite watering hole again.

Add in the fact that the new and more infectious strain seems to be lingering close to the Czech borders and it seems highly unlikely that pubs and restaurants will open in the coming weeks.

Regarding the country’s vaccination programme which we all thought would be our knight in shining armour. It remains an absolute joke – no more words needed!

‘DOGGY STYLE’ INDEX GOES DOWN FURTHER

The Do*******le index has fallen again today and now stands at 70, a decrease of two points from the previous day. This is the fourth day in a row that the number corresponds to Category 4. The R Number also fell to 68, one less than yesterday’s number.

According to the Ministry For Health, the lower figures are a result of the decrease in Covid infections among people aged over 65…..lets hope that trend continues.

We are currently operating in the highest risk level (category 5). If the number stays at Level 4, for seven consecutive days, restrictions are supposed to be eased, but the Government have already stated that we will stay on Level 5 until at least January 22nd. The next few days should be interesting.

CASES ROSE ON FRIDAY, BUT R NUMBER FALLS BELOW 0.7

There were 9.230 new positive Covid cases on Friday, that was an increase compared to Thursday’s number of 8.032.

However, the R number (the number of people that one infected person will pass on a virus to) continued to fall and currently stands at 0.69.

The number of people hospitalised also fell to below 7.000.

The PES figure remained at 72, which corresponds to Level 4 of the controversial Doggy Style system.
