An Invitation to Czech Companies: Building Zambia’s Next Digital Market 🇨🇿🇿🇲

At the Innovation Forum 2025, one message came through clearly: traditional postal services belong to the past — and Zambia is actively shaping the foundations of its future digital and e-commerce ecosystem, while seeking long-term partners to help build it.

The vision presented by Lydia Simakando, Postmaster General & CEO of the Zampost, shows how a nationwide institution can evolve beyond traditional postal services and become a key enabler of e-commerce and digital services.

ZAMPOST aims to evolve into:
🔹 a platform for e-commerce and digital trade,
🔹 a data hub supporting SMEs and entrepreneurs,
🔹 and a backbone connecting digital payments, delivery, and public services.

This is precisely where Czech experience is highly relevant. 🇨🇿

The Czech Republic has built a strong e-commerce ecosystem — combining online platforms, digital payments, fulfillment, logistics, and data-driven operations. Czech companies know how to scale e-commerce beyond major cities, integrate logistics with technology, and turn digital marketplaces into viable, functioning ecosystems.

For Czech companies active in e-commerce, logistics, fintech, and technology, this represents a timely opportunity:
to engage early, co-develop solutions, and become part of a growing digital market in Southern Africa.

Strengthening Zambia’s Digital Future Through Cybersecurity 🔐 at Tech4Zambia 🇨🇿🇿🇲

As Zambia expands its digital services, fintech and e-governance systems, the demand for robust cybersecurity capabilities is rising in parallel. Protecting data, securing systems, and safeguarding national infrastructure have become central to ensuring a stable and trusted digital environment.

At Afripoli, we take cybersecurity seriously. It was only natural that this topic played a central role at the Tech4Zambia Innovation Forum 2025. 🌍

One of the key voices in this discussion was Veronika Solis from the ARDAR Institute, a cybersecurity company based in Prague with operations in South Africa — and with the ambition to establish a presence in Lusaka.

In her interview, Veronika highlighted why Zambia has become such an important country for ARDAR:
🔹 Zambia is rapidly advancing in digitalisation, fintech, and e-governance, creating a dynamic environment full of innovation.
🔹 With this progress come new threats and challenges, making cybersecurity a strategic necessity.
🔹 The Czech Republic offers expertise, cooperation, and practical solutions — the kind of capabilities that make Czech organisations strong partners for Zambia.

Veronika’s message to organisations was clear:“Money and data do not deserve to be left to luck. They deserve proper attention and protection.”

Cybersecurity is not just a technical requirement — it is a foundation of national resilience, economic stability, and trust in digital transformation. 🛡️

At Afripoli, we are proud to work alongside our Zambian partners — the Ministry of Technology and Science - Zambia, the Zambia Development Agency, the Zambia Electronic Clearing House Limited (ZECHL), and other institutions — sharing expertise, listening to local priorities, and supporting the capabilities that address real security needs. 🤝

We look forward to the next concrete steps in building a safer, stronger, and more resilient digital future for Zambia.

“Collecting data is potentially the easy part, but converting that data into insight that can be used by the end user — that’s where all the value is really created.”
— Kennet Christensen, Kumva Insights

Our Smart Farming panel at the Innovation Forum 2025 brought forward some of the most grounded, practical insights of the event — many of them shaped by our discussion with Kennet Christensen from Kumva Insights.

Here are three themes that stood out:

1) Data shouldn’t live in silos — it can serve many sectors at once 📊
Kennet reminded us how often valuable data gets locked inside single systems. Yet the same information can support multiple sectors if it’s shared.
Weather data, for instance, helps farmers plan irrigation — but it also helps health teams anticipate malaria risks when environmental conditions are right.
Breaking silos isn’t just about technology; it’s about letting existing data create more value for more people.

2) Context matters — technology has to fit the environment 🌱
Africa’s diversity came through clearly in the discussion. Instead of reinventing technologies that already exist elsewhere, the focus should be on adapting them so they work in the specific environments where they will be used.
And as Kennet highlighted, collecting data is often the easy part — the real impact comes from turning that data into insight that farmers or health workers can rely on in their daily decisions.

3) Partnerships unlock better solutions 🤝
A positive trend echoed across the entire Tech4Zambia event was the growing recognition that collaboration leads to stronger outcomes.
Instead of trying to solve everything alone, organisations are increasingly combining what they each do best — and when that happens, new and better solutions start emerging.

We’re grateful to all the organisations and experts who joined the Smart Farming panel — including CABI, Kumva Insights, AgriPredict, Panuka AgriBiz Hub, TRL Space Rwanda and the National Remote Sensing Centre. Their insights showed just how strong and diverse agricultural innovation landscape already is.

21/11/2025

What stood out for me today is the enthusiasm — the courage we have seen from people here. It shows there is a great future ahead in Zambia in terms of technology development.” 🚀
— Tuyihimbaze Serge, COO, TRL Space Rwanda

At the Tech4Zambia Innovation Forum 2025, Serge highlighted a principle at the core of every effective technology ecosystem: the importance of partnerships. When organisations align expertise, share knowledge, and combine resources, progress accelerates — and opportunities become achievable at scale. 🤝

TRL Space enriched the forum with a distinctly forward-looking and innovative perspective on technology development. Their contribution showed how advanced solutions can be applied across multiple sectors — from agriculture and habitat protection to remote sensing, security, and defence. 🛰️

They also emphasised a key insight: meaningful impact does not come from hardware or data alone, but from the ability to interpret, analyse, and apply that data effectively.

This perspective aligns strongly with the philosophy behind the Tech4Zambia Innovation Forum — an approach that values new ideas and modern technologies, but always places emphasis on the people who build them, use them, and benefit from them.

We are confident that this dialogue will lead to new opportunities in space technologies, Earth Observation, and innovation ecosystems that can support Zambia’s development and contribute to wider regional growth. 🌍

18/11/2025

“What impressed me most about Zambia is the openness — the sincerity, the kindness, and the genuine willingness to build partnerships and explore what we can achieve together. It’s the people, the spirit, and the environment that make you want to work side by side.”
— Petr Bohacek, Director of Afripoli

From the beginning, Afripoli has focused on connecting Czech innovation with African priorities through meaningful partnerships and long-term value creation. 🤝

The Innovation Forum 2025 embodied this approach.
Together with outstanding Zambian organisations working in agriculture, innovation, energy, telecommunications, conservation, remote sensing, and other key sectors, we delivered a forum that brought crucial actors around one table and opened new space for cooperation.

More than anything, the forum created the right environment to build new partnerships, strengthen ongoing collaborations, and elevate Czech–Zambian relations to a new level. 🇿🇲🇨🇿

Thank you to every institution, company, expert, and partner who made this event meaningful. We are proud of what we built together — and excited for what comes next.
