📌MPXV (Monkey Virus) • Orthopoxvirus genus
📌Direct Contact Contamination to Lesions, Body fluids, Respiratory droplets, contaminated materials, prolonged skin-skin contact, sexual activity
Animal-Human: bites, scratches, or handling wild game.
📌Incubation range (replicates in the body after exposure) —• 6-13 days or up to 5-21days
📌S/S Usually appear 1–2 weeks after exposure:
1. Prodrome (early symptoms):
• Fever
• Headache
• Muscle aches
• Swollen lymph nodes (distinct from smallpox)
2. Rash (1–3 days after fever):
• Starts on face, then spreads
• Lesions go through stages: macules → papules → vesicles → pustules → scabs
• Painful and can scar
