Today we present to you our vocal coach, opera and concert singer Bernhard Hansky , who has been in our Oper Oder Spree Team since 2019!
German baritone Bernhard Hansky studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin with Hanno Müller-Brachmann and Kammersänger Roman Trekel, and participated in masterclasses with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Angelika Kirchschlager, and Brigitte Fassbaender. He made his early solo appearances at the Oper Oder-Spree Festival before joining the Opera Studio of the Komische Oper Berlin (2012–2014). Permanent engagements followed at the Semperoper Dresden and the Hamburg State Opera.
Guest appearances have taken him to the Berlin State Opera (Turandot), the Salzburg Easter Festival, Modena, the Grafenegg Festival, as well as to Tallinn, Copenhagen, Prague, and Brno. His repertoire includes Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Ping (Turandot), Zurga (Les pêcheurs de perles), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), and Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), a role he debuted in October 2024 in Prague under Petr Popelka. He has collaborated with conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Václav Luks, and Alessandro De Marchi.
Equally in demand on the concert stage, Hansky performs the great oratorio repertoire from Bach to Mendelssohn. He has appeared at the Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Berlin Cathedral, Konzerthaus Freiburg, with the Orchestre National de Lille, at the Kraków Philharmonic, and as bass soloist in Bach’s St John Passion in Montréal under Masaaki Suzuki.
Hansky says:
“For me, Oper Oder-Spree is truly a homecoming — a chance to work with friends and long-time companions in a magnificent setting.”
