Organised by The NODE Institute with support from Derivative, PlusPlusOne and Monopol Berlin, the NODE SESSIONS return for their third edition at one of Berlin’s most vibrant hubs for light and media art. These gatherings create an inspiring space for artists, developers, and designers exploring light art, experience design, creative coding, and interactive media.

Whether you’re an established creator or simply curious about the future of digital expression, you’re invited to join and connect with the community ☺️

We are thrilled to return to Monopol Berlin—not only home to a diverse community of artists, but also a venue that has hosted some of the city’s most striking light and media art installations in recent years.

For the first , creative director and educator Alessandro Maggioni joined us to teach an introduction to vvvv live at our home in Neukölln! 😍

We had a playful and insightful time understanding vvvv and how to create interactive projects.

Stefan Kraus () is not only co-founder of The NODE Institute, but he is also an avid and passionate VJ since 1999. He hasn't VJed outside the commercial realm for a while, and this collab with Reflected Radio () has inspired him to go back to his roots and find joy in radical, glitchy visuals again, beyond the semi-analogues hardware bending experiments of the early 2000s that still happened in the realm of SD video.

This September 12,13,14 🗓️ SPATIAL unfolds across the iconic rooms of the Funkhaus, transforming its legendary recording halls into instruments for deep, communal listening. Across three days, more than 60 pioneering artists will present original works through live performances, art installations, and continuous listening sessions—each crafted using the 4DSOUND system, a holographic sound instrument developed through a decade of artistic and technical research.

Thanks to the support of vvvv and , The NODE Institute is hosting a FREE intro to vvvv workshop on Sep 7th IRL at our home in Neukölln as part of ! 🎉

👉 Join the workshop for a first glimpse into vvvv Gamma node-based programming language. During the 3-hour session, we will discover its basic concepts and understand how these can be scaled into more complex projects.

We will also have a peek into some of the exciting features of the upcoming vvvv Gamma 7 release 👀

🎓 No previous experience needed.

If you want to join the practical exploration, please bring your laptop with the latest build of vvvv gamma installed.

This course will be led by the inspiring Alessandro Maggioni. Alessandro explores how analog creativity meets digital expression through participatory design. As co-founder of BADABOOMBERLIN (), he has created interactive installations for Bauhaus Dessau, Futurium Berlin, and GRIMMWELT Kassel. His research focuses on maintaining tactile making processes while enabling digital storytelling. Currently focusing on education in schools and universities, Alessandro advocates for technology that amplifies rather than replaces human creativity.
