I have a lot going on in July and August this Summer! Please come out and support these amazing artists - they are coming from local and far and wide and with various genres and sounds - and am happy to always bring you discovery and magical storytelling to the stages I am lucky to have a hand in!
Please allow me a small rant! :: The costs of being a part of the independent music scene both locally and internationally is in jeopardy whether an artist, organizer, promoter, booker, label, etc.. it is getting harder for artists to book tours, to book local shows, to put out albums and get heard without offering your first born up as collateral! for someone who has been doing this a very long time can say that we need to support where we can, not only by coming to shows and buying merch (artists you can not forget merch!!) but listening and sharing music and shows you think are exciting or your mates would love because the very scene building that happens is being jeopardized when people like me who are doing this job decide they can no longer afford to do it!
I am also being a fan!,...yes, I love music and I was lucky to make it my lifes work but I do question the ways in which I can help outside of what I already do, by giving consultations, offering stages and or create festivals to bring space for the ones who need it most, because i know i can not do more on my own!
It is time to open up this conversation to all of involved to see what we can do because I do not want to only complain or give up. Without non-commercial promoters and venues - new artists cannot emerge, without stages you will not hear & see your future music crushes, Not only do we rely on fans to come to shows but we need to support each other within our own microcosom, especially for those working independently or working outside of normal structures. The healing coming from music is so important.
