The 2025 Call for Applications for the residency program at spæs - lab for spatial aesthetics in sound Berlin is now open. This residency in Berlin provides an opportunity to explore the spatial aesthetics of sound through experimentation, research, and collaboration. Residents will have access to spatial sound studios, professional support, and the opportunity to contribute to a growing knowledge base on sound and space. Heute startet im Mobile Dome am Mariannenplatz die zweite fulldome Arbeit, für die wir den spatial Mix realisiert haben: „Elektra“ von Metahaven. Sie ist noch bis zum 16. September zu sehen.

„Elektra“ ist ein visueller Essay über Knoten und Netze, der in einer Verbindung von Animation und Realfilm über die Kindheit und die Verkörperung der Vergangenheit in der Gegenwart reflektiert.” (Berliner Festspiele)

Two years ago, we started experimenting with a spatial sound production software, and yesterday, MNTN has finally launched its physical manifestation, the MNTN Spatial Sound System! This coincides with the opening of the The New Infinity. Neue Kunst für Planetarien at Mariannenplatz in Berlin, where it'll be spatializing the audiovisual pieces for the next four weeks.

Today, we are really happy to announce the launch of our new MNTN Spatial Sound System.

We designed a hardware system that is just as simple and beautiful as our MNTN app, and will play back the projects created with MNTN – or in other spatial audio formats – on any loudspeaker configuration.

It’s a double premiere, too!

These last couple of weeks, we’ve been working with the fine people of Tat Team who produce inflatable architecture and the team of Berliner Festspiele in collaboration with the Planetarium Hamburg. Today, the preparations come to a first culmination with the opening of The New Infinity. Neue Kunst für Planetarien, which is part of the Berliner Festspiele Immersion series. At home in the mobile dome in Berlin for the next four weeks, a new audiovisual project will start every week. All pieces have been either produced or spatialized with the MNTN Spatial Sound System.

Today was premiere! "Phantastisches Weltall", originally produced at the East-Berlin Zeiss-Großplanetarium 30 years ago, the 2017 re-make comes with a new narrative embracing the most recent scientific findings. For the all-new 46.2 channel sound system, TAUCHER created a spacey 3D sound mix.

For this fantastical 360° film, the original orchestral music recorded at the legendary Funkhaus Berlin and composed by Bernd Wefelmeyer forms the core of the film, keeping its original breath and soul. Additional music and the sound design were created by Detlef Schitto from Studio 1141.

We're happy to be part of this historical film project.
