#11 Sternrekorder - Retrolektrotanzmusik

With his beautiful melodies and sweet harmonies, Sternrekorder takes you back to the era of the late 1970s and early 1980s when electronic music was still so playful and innocent. He began making music in 1995 and released his first album "Weissensee" on Astro-Chicken in 2011. The love to old synthesizers, drum machines and the 80s lifestyle is closely linked to his biggest dream: travelling in time. He was deeply influenced by Italo Disco, NDW and Dark Wave back in his childhood.

#10 Compilerbau

Compilerbau is a german electronic music group founded in 2005 by Rudolf Koller. Their music is created with modern and vintage synthesizers and often contains real acoustic instruments, percussion and drums. The vocals on some of their tracks where sung by Michael Reithmeier. Both Reithmeier and Koller where members of other local bands before Koller released the first official album “Talking Machines” with Compilerbau in 2013. In 2014 the albums „Tachyon“, „Terraformer“ and „The Void“ where released.
The musical style of Compilerbau is mostly electronic and can be related to the subgenres Synthwave and Darkwave with strong 80s influences. It also contains sporadic stylistic elements of 70s Progressive Rock, Krautrock and Spacedisco characteristics. Recent technology like granular and morphing synthesizers adds a modern touch to the overall vintage sound.
Compilerbau is inspired by several bands and musicians like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Michael Hoenig, Ron Jones, John Carpenter, Alan Silvestri and the huge amount of spacedisco and wave groups of the past. Koller is also inspired by dark and post punk groups and musicians like Damon Edge (Chrome) and The Police (Sting) while Reithmeier is inspired by 80s Hard Rock groups like Dokken.

Apollo Zapp is a german synthwave producer based in Abruzzo, Italy. He is one of the founders of the italian label Sunlover Records. Besides his album release „Laser Tits“ in 2014 he was featured on various compilations like „Italo Disco is Back“, „Maximum Workout“ and „Italowave“. Though dedicated to italian lifestyle his heart is secretly longing for a cold breeze in the german alps and good german beer!

#6 Jan-Friedrich Conrad

Jan-Friedrich Conrad is best known for his contribution to the audioplays of the „EUROPA“-Label, where his compositions are used like film score music - but for movies without the picture. These audioplays are a unique and incredibly popular phenomenon of the german language-based culture circle. Starting in 1987 with scores for audioplay adaptions of TV sequels like „Knight Rider“, „Airwolf“ and „The A-Team“, Conrads Hardware-MIDI-Synthesizer-based-Recordings hit the audience at the pinnacle of the „Miami Vice“-hype. His later works until the present day are not restricted to „Synthwave“ style, as this would not match the needs of the most popular audioplay sequel in Germany, called „Die Drei ???“ (in american: „The Three Investigators“). But he still can do it: Outrun electro music like in the days of the Atari-ST-based sequencers.
