AUT152 - Jordan White "Music for Imaginary Spaces" is Aut Now!
Music for Imaginary Spaces, the new work by Jordan White, explores the sound of spaces — real and imagined — and the possibility of composing music that can fully exist only in a specific place.
The project grew out of White’s research into reverb design, acoustic models, and custom SuperCollider programming, alongside his study of Byzantine, Georgian, and Armenian Orthodox vocal traditions: music shaped by architecture, where voice, room, and reverberation form a single system.
Recorded, recomposed, and reshaped over five sessions in 2025, the album features Jordan White on electric guitar, composition, and programming, with Elena Kakaliagou on horn, Carlotta Armbruster and Georg Demel on trombones, Claire Corgz on bass guitar, and Thomas Sauerborn on drums and cymbals. Peter Ehwald appears as a guest on tenor saxophone on track 5.
Music for Imaginary Spaces opens a new series of works in which composition, spatial imagination, and acoustic experimentation meet in shifting forms.
