Dear friends, if you care about a future with food, water and land to live on and air to breathe for you and all other living creatures beyond the year 2030 – please PLEASE get active now and take to the streets with us next week!🙏
Extinction Rebellion, will be blocking 60 big cities worldwide from October 7th on (info below) to pressure political action to protect our climate, our eco system, our habitat and future.
There are many ways to get involved: not only joining acts of peaceful civil disobedience like blockades, but also easy and fun things like being part of our cultural programme and camp, attenting our talks, concerts, parties, helping with food supply, communication, press& media work, design, IT, legal support, being nice to bypassers, police officers, politicians, taking care of activists, doing yoga, meditation, art or just being there with a smile and a hug.
This is soooooo important (otherwise we wouldn't ask!), the time is now, we ned to be many !!!
Thank you!
Love & Rage 💚

Two heroines in conversation: "The biggest weapon people have is to try to make you think that you don’t matter. It is to say, “This doesn’t change anything.” Because if you can convince people that it doesn’t matter, then they won’t do it and people can go on as though it’s business as usual. We are no longer at the point of preventing [climate disaster] from happening entirely – we are now at the point of minimising the damage. And as these floods and storms are here, I think more and more people are going to be willing to stand up for themselves."

"Germany has vowed to go carbon neutral by 2050 but activists say this is not soon enough.
Recent surveys have shown that climate change tops a list of concerns in Germany, with the Green party polling alongside the governing Christian Democrats."

The activists broke through police lines during a weekend of protests against fossil fuel use.

"One way to move forward in a positive direction is to abandon a singular focus on lifestyle choice to focus resistance on externally-conceived and profit-driven developments as a moral and even survivalist imperative and work to re-establish community through solidarity economies, replenishing those relations severed by the growth-centred logic.
Material or energy dematerialisation is simply not enough. It must be accompanied by an economy built on care and responsibility, rather than profit, growth and self-interest if it is to have any long-term impact. This is a small but absolutely crucial step towards attaining the authentic desires for sustainability that many of us are so dearly committed to and which we so urgently need."

Improving eco-efficiency within a capitalist growth-oriented system will not save the environment.

We are part of Extinction Rebellion for some months now and warmly invite you all to join this amazing movement too:
"It’s not Extinction Rebellion or Greta Thunberg it wants us to listen to: it’s the scientists who have been yelling at us for the last 30 years. If that message can hit home to people in positions of influence, then it may yet prove to be the movement that saved all of us from ourselves. If not, we face a reality so terrible no one can comprehend it."

By stating the terrible truth about the climate crisis it has created authentic hope for the first time, says journalist and author Matthew Todd

We agree 100% – stop blaming and shaming, and get active on a higher level!
"The belief that this enormous, existential problem could have been fixed if all of us had just tweaked our consumptive habits is not only preposterous; it’s dangerous. It turns environmentalism into an individual choice defined as sin or virtue, convicting those who don’t or can’t uphold these ethics. When you consider that the same IPCC report outlined that the vast majority of global greenhouse gas emissions come from just a handful of corporations — aided and abetted by the world’s most powerful governments, including the US — it’s victim blaming, plain and simple.
While we’re busy testing each other’s purity, we let the government and industries — the authors of said devastation — off the hook completely. This overemphasis on individual action shames people for their everyday activities, things they can barely avoid doing because of the fossil fuel-dependent system they were born into.
We need to broaden our definition of personal action beyond what we buy or use. Start by changing your lightbulb, but don’t stop there. Taking part in a climate strike or showing up to a rally is a personal action. Organizing neighbors to sue a power plant that’s poisoning the community is a personal action.
Voting is a personal action. When choosing your candidate, investigate their environmental policies. If they aren’t strong enough, demand better. Once that person is in office, hold them accountable. And if that doesn’t work, run for office yourself — that’s another personal action.
Take your personal action and magnify it into something bigger than what kind of bag totes your groceries.""

Stop obsessing over your environmental "sins." Fight the oil and gas industry instead.

Some reflecting and reflective art projects to check out:
"For decades arts institutions have effectively engaged in self-censorship to pay for their productions, putting on amazing programming and covering critical topics, as long as it wasn’t a thorough debate of our addiction to fossil fuels. This strategic exclusion of a topic from public debate over more than a generation has led to ignorance, with repercussions in education, academic and public life.
But there is hope in the air."

After too long a silence, art is finally tackling global warming. Here are the big players – including the photographer who’s lighting up Alaska
