We regret to announce the passing of Bambo Touray, father of Amadou Touray the driver, at his residence in Kombo Lamin Kerewan. The news came earlier this morning and the burial already took place at 10:00 a.m. today after it was decided the deceased could not wait for further arrangements.

Prior to his demise, Bambo lived and worked in Spain where he fell sick and later returned to Gambia and had been sick for long before ultimately answering to his Lord’s call.

May Allah Subhaanah overlook all his shortcomings, suffuse his grave with abundant nūr, and grant him eternal repose in Jannatul Firdaws without reckoning. Ameen.

His Excellency President Adama Barrow to Visit Sandu to Launch 97.5km Road Project

Great news for the people of Sandu. His Excellency President Adama Barrow will soon be in Sandu to officially lay the foundation stones for the construction of 97.5km of roads dedicated to our district.

This project is about more than just tar and gravel. It’s about connecting our people, easing the movement of goods and people, improving access to markets, schools and health centers, and opening up Sandu for growth and opportunity. After years of waiting, this is the kind of development that will change daily life for thousands of families.

The 97.5km is solely for the Sandu District and will cover the following routes and communities:

Sare Fodigeh – Sare Gubu – Nawdeh – Tobichindeh Border - 10 Km
Darsilameh to Fadia K***a - 13.4 Km
Mbaye K***a via Darsilameh to Touba Sandu - 13.4 Km
Nawdeh – Sare Gubu – Sare Demba – Kuwonku Ba – Changally Chewdo/Langkaddy – Misera – Jakaba – Sare Fodigeh - 21 Km
Diabugu to Sare Gubu - 6.8 Km
Darsilameh Sega – Ali Maka – Njaibeh – Nyankui – Jagajari - 10 Km
Darsilameh – Kuwonku – Sare Yerore – Sare Demba Toro – Sare Samba – Barinabeh – Torbichindeh – Wellingara Bakary – Sankabari – Sare Pateh – Nawdeh - 22.3 Km

We thank His Excellency President Adama Barrow and the Government of The Gambia for prioritizing Sandu in the national development agenda. We also thank all partners working to make this a reality.

To the people of Sandu, let’s welcome this moment with pride and unity. Let’s protect the project, cooperate with the teams on the ground, and put community interest above all else. This road belongs to all of us, and its success depends on all of us.

We regret to announce the passing of Arafang Ceesay today in Serekunda. Prior to his demise, Arafang, a brother to Bala Ceesay and Yaya Ceesay and son of the late Bammadi Ceesay, lived with his family in Sanchaba.

Burial will take place in Sandu Kuwonku as arrangements to transport the deceased are underway.

Innalillahi wa inna’ilaihi raaji’oon. May Allah Subhaanah overlook all his shortcomings, suffuse his grave with abundant nūr, and grant him eternal repose in Jannatul Firdaws without reckoning. Ameen.
