Seong-Jin Cho (-Jin Cho) takes the stage tonight at the Hollywood Bowl, performing with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The programme features both of Ravel’s piano concertos - the Concerto for the Left Hand and the Concerto in G major - alongside two symphonic works by Duke Ellington.

Tianyi Lu () appears at Wolf Trap in Virginia this evening, conducting the National Symphony Orchestra in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Filene Center.

Joining her are soloists from Wolf Trap Opera, the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and the Children’s Chorus of Washington.

The programme also includes the Overture to Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and selections from Bizet’s Carmen.

Exciting debuts with two Japanese orchestras await Delyana Lazarova.

She first joins the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra for two concerts in Tokyo, conducting works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Dobrinka Tabakova, alongside Mozart’s Oboe Concerto with soloist Albrecht Mayer.

The following week, she appears with the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra in Osaka, leading a programme that includes Ravel, Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4.

Conductor Dima Slobodeniouk is currently at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, leading the festival’s production of Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, directed by Nicola Raab. Set in the surroundings of Olavinlinna Castle, the staging features Finnish bass Mika Kares in the title role.

After the first two successful performances this week, three more will follow: tonight, 17 July, and on 19 and 24 July.

The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is back a the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival this year for four concerts.

The first two will feature them, their music director Joshua Bell and their Leader Tomo Keller in a programme with works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Piazzolla.

The ASMF Chamber Ensemble will play the last two concerts with Bach's Ricercar a 6, Brahms' String Sextet and Mendelssohn's Octet for strings.

As she enters the final chapter of her performing career, set to conclude at the end of 2025, Sabine Meyer returns to the festival with which she shares a rich and enduring artistic bond.

Steven Banks is at the Colorado Music Festival this week to premiere Joan Tower’s new concerto for saxophone and orchestra titled "Love Returns".

The work reflects Tower’s response to the loss of her husband in 2022 and expands on the theme of her earlier cello concerto, "A New Day", which premiered at the Festival in 2021.

The long list of co-commissioners of the new concerto includes the Colorado Music Festival, National Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival and School, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
