NowHere Media is an award-winning studio in Berlin crafting virtual and augmented experiences that enable audiences to view contemporary issues through a critical lens. We work with nonprofits, media organisations and brand partners to create impactful stories that inspire and engage global audiences. Our signature is telling untold stories -- breaking taboos and silences. We specialise in human r

ights, conflict, social justice and environment. From covering war in Syria to chasing snow leopards in the Himalayas, we’re trained for productions in hostile and challenging environments. Founders Felix Gaedtke and Gayatri Parameswaran have backgrounds in journalism and believe in the power of stories to transform. As a boutique studio we value quality over quantity, and understand diversity in all its forms to be an asset. For each project, we carefully curate teams to meet specific needs for immersive design -- photogrammetry, volumetric capture, animation or multisensory installations. On Knowledge Sharing:
We care about furthering the art of immersive storytelling by empowering up and coming XR creators. That's why Felix and Gayatri regularly take up speaking and mentoring engagements for conferences, workshops and other events. Most recent examples include talks for TEDx, Women Deliver, and mentoring at Neue deutsche Medienmacher*innen and the Off-Piste Virtual Reality Storytelling Lab. We also lead an Immersive Storytelling module for the MA in Visual Anthropology course at HMKW.

Co-created with members of the Q'ero Nation in Peru, *Ancestral Secret VR* invites you on a contemplative journey through the majestic Vilcanota mountain range — where the last Incas live. Experience the Q’ero’s ancestral rites and worldview come alive through animation and 360° video.

🔍 Today is Endangered Species Day, a moment to reflect on the urgent need to protect Earth’s most vulnerable wildlife.

At NowHere Media, we’re drawing attention to the snow leopard—a symbol of the wild and remote high mountains of Central and South Asia. Though its status was recently downgraded from endangered to vulnerable by the IUCN, the snow leopard still faces mounting threats:
Poaching for its fur and use in traditional medicine

Decline in natural prey species such as wild mountain goats and sheep

Habitat degradation in fragile high-altitude ecosystems

Limited awareness and action from local communities and governments

🎥 As part of our commitment to spotlighting critical ecological stories, we’re currently developing Living with the Snow Leopards (WT) — a mixed reality experience exploring the deeply intertwined lives of snow leopards and local communities in the Himalayas, set against the urgent backdrop of climate change.

As storytellers and media makers, we believe in the power of raising awareness to inspire action. On this day, we also recognise the many other species on the brink — and reaffirm our hope and commitment to a future where they can thrive.

This week marked the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Now more than ever, it is critical to combat misinformation and amplify Ukrainian voices. Stories from Ukraine must be heard, and we remain committed to giving them space.

Today, we would like to share images we captured while filming our 360-degree documentary, "You Destroy. We Create.", which earned our studio an Emmy nomination and a Peabody Award.

Our thoughts remain with our friends and colleagues in Ukraine during this somber time. Together, we stand in solidarity with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

A few years ago, we had the incredible privilege of documenting the language revitalisation efforts of the Kusunda indigenous community in Nepal. Their stories highlighted the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage. When a language is lost, it’s more than words disappearing—it’s a piece of our shared cultural and global diversity.

That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of **REVIVE**, a Horizon Europe project preserving endangered languages and cultural heritage.

Led by ARU’s StoryLab Research Institute, **REVIVE** (Community-centred language REVItalisation powered by heritage-led storytelling and digital innoVation in Europe) uses immersive technologies and storytelling to preserve and celebrate linguistic heritage and to develop **REVIVE(S)**—an EU-first platform featuring an online archive, XR narratives, and interactive community exhibitions.

We’re thrilled to be part of this initiative and can’t wait to share it with the world, stay tuned!

Happy 2025! But before we dive straight into it, here’s a moment to appreciate everything from 2024. What a year it was. From major wins to bold new projects, 2024 has kept us busy, inspired and driven to create!

In 2024 we were honoured to win the prestigious Peabody Award for “You Destroy. We Create | The War on Ukraine’s Culture,” which was a huge milestone for us. We also embarked on our first research trip to Ladakh, premiered our co-production Ancestral Secret VR and launched exciting new collaborations such as Dark Rooms and the heritage-focused REVIVE project.

It has been a whirlwind of creativity, connection and storytelling - we can’t wait to see what comes next! 🚀
