WHAT is RIESLING Sekt?🤔

Today at the Meiningers Deutscher Sektpreis, I tried to find more answers to a question.🥂

There is certainly not one style or one profile, and tasters' palates are also very diverse. So Riesling Sekt will always be a wonderful, exciting melting pot of the winemaker's vision and the style of sparkling wine the consumer wants to enjoy.

The good news is that quality and variety are both excellent.

California Calling: Have you ever enjoyed a glass of fizz from the Sunshine State?☀

I write a lot about sparkling wines from California these days. The glorious story of the Golden State's still wines is fascinating and well known but what about the bubbles?
Probably, you do remember the famous Judgement of Paris?
Perhaps it's time to recreate it with sparkling wines.🥂

The development in quality and craftsmanship is obvious, and the cheerful, diverse and often fancy styles behind the bubbles are unique to the vibe of the Californian winemaker.😉

This year, I was lucky to have tasted new and familiar sparkling wines, and I am still enchanted by the vibrant scene, looking for trends and sustainability, but also tradition.😎

❓Did you know that there is a French connection to sparkling wines?
❓Did you also know that the first sparkling wine appeared as early as the 18th century and was produced using the traditional method?

Hot, hot, 🔥 - roasting heat😥 in Potsdam!

Despite there being many lakes to swim in, it was not a good idea to take a plunge in the cooling water. The parks were closed due to the risk of being hit by falling branches from drought-stricken trees, and the other lake had blue algae starting to bloom.

It's perfect for someone like me, who works with bubbles and always has a nice, chilled bottle in the freezer. 😉

➡️ My tipp:

When the temperature in Potsdam soars above 38°C, there’s only one way to cool down in style: a perfectly chilled glass of Bubbly 🥂.

Additional refreshment comes from using a bucket with cold water or some ice to cool down your feet. 😂

🍾I choose the Gratien & Meyer Crémant de Loire Brut.
Crafted in the heart of the Loire Valley and a Cuvée from Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.

➡️ What to expect?

Traditional method Crémant Brut easy going, dosage more on the 12g/l but well balanced. Nice freshness, fine perlage, Stone fruit and some brioche linger around.

The Crémant is the perfect companion for hot summer days—especially when the city is sizzling.
