Cashmere Radio is a not-for-profit community radio station based in Berlin.

The ambition of the station is to preserve and further radio and broadcasting practices by playing with the plasticity and malleability of the medium. We do this by both honouring and challenging it’s inherent qualities: it is both a physical station open to the public and an online radio; it has regular shows, yet opens itself up to extended and one-off events; it features extended generative mus

ic performances and installations at the same time as working within radio’s typical durations. In short, it is an attempt to enhance and celebrate the performative, social and informative power of radio that we believe lies within the medium itself.

We have a special Cashmere Session coming up, w/ MSHR and Victor Burton!

MSHR (Birch Cooper and Brenna Murphy ) were among Cashmere’s first artists in residence in 2019, in our good old Lichtenberg studio. They are currently on Europe tour and will present their AV show “Network Entity”, we are more than thrilled and looking forward to be catching up with them!
For their audiovisual performance “Network Entity”, MSHR has designed a digital system that links visual and sonic parameters using open-source software. The duo improvises with the system via a handmade sculptural interface to unfold a series of compositions for video projection and four-channel sound. The result is a kind of live cinema in which visual and sonic shapes mutate through mutual interaction, guided by the players.

On the same night, Victor Burton will perform his set SUPERJEKTIN’ VOL. 1
An iterative mixtape, product of fiction, actualized through the encounter between Footwork and procedural computer diffractions. A scheme relying on the abstractive potential of the Wavelet Transform as a conduit for sonic derivations.

Ahead of their appearance at , , aka Dmytro Fedorenko and Kateryna Zavoloka, present "I Shall Sing Until My Land Is Free," a Ukrainian experimental music label supporting Ukrainian resistance against Russia by donating profits to self-defence and humanitarian aid, and dedicated to all the fighters for freedom and independence around the world.

I Shall Sing Until My Land Is Free is a sub-label and a special cultural-political project under Fedorenko and Zavoloka's label Prostir. The name is taken from a track by Muslimgauze, one of the label’s artists, and refers to various stories about Ukrainian defenders singing and playing instruments in trenches or under fire. The label is created with support and assistance from Staalplaat in Amsterdam, Netherlands and The Label in Edmonton, Canada, as well as the Polish pressing plants Monotype pressing and X-DiSC.

Fedorenko and Zavoloka will speak and perform as Cluster Lizard at the upcoming event Territory Disrupt, which interrogates cultural imperialism and forms of musical resistance. Territory Disrupt will run 25 & 26 November 2022 at SOMA Art Space in Berlin.

From August 10-13, 2022 A L'ARME FESTIVAL will celebrate its 10th edition featuring lots of amazing artists in live performances, plus: Pattern Dissection broadcasting from Radialsystem as part of the Anniversary Lounge — three radio shows of 90 minutes to 4 hours each with music and interviews. Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 6-10pm and 10pm to midnight respectively. Attend in person or stream online on cashmereradio.com. Friday's show will also be airing on FM: 88,4 Berlin and 90,7 Potsdam via the 24/3 Radio Netzwerk.

Pattern Dissection has been broadcasting improvised music and free jazz monthly on Cashmere Radio since 2017: 63 episodes are currently available online to listen back to on cashmereradio.com/shows/pattern-dissection. Next to their radio practice, your hosts Christoph and Stefan also organise gigs in Berlin and released their first label release in October 2021.
