"inside her, so many very different things are working together to keep her alive. a single cell in her body has more memory than the conscious mind has. inside her cells, mitochondria, a previously independent form of life, have found a haven and trade their ability to synthesize proteins and metabolize fats for room to live and reproduce. we’re in her cells too now, and the cells have accepted us."
Lisa Gutscher lives and works in Frankfurt am Main where she is currently enrolled at Städelschule. As a DAAD-scholar she studied Georgian Polyphony in the Caucasus region in 2020/21. Gutscher’s work consists of bodies made up of both found and haphazardly produced attributes. It stands as a network of abiding incompletion, an ever changing choir of urgencies and pleasures, contusions and failures, that communally relay polyphonically. Recent exhibitions include Against a dark sky it is possible to catch glimmers of the wild energetics of indeterminacies in action, 1822-Forum, Frankfurt am Main (2022); FÜNFZEHN JAHRE – FÜNFZEHN WERKE, Kunsthalle Mannheim, Mannheim (2021); facets, faces, Fffriedrich, Frankfurt am Main (2021); Recession Grimace, Klosterruine, Berlin (2020); 3-4 trees, ea-shared space, Tbilisi (2020).
The book will be available for purchase during the exhibition, 15 March - 9 April 2022.
Additional distribution points will be announced shortly.
