Team culture is hard to build.
There’s no handbook for it, just a thousand tiny choices made every day.

Earlier this week, we sat down with Marie Barbier, Director of People & Culture at Morning, one of France’s leading coworking brands: 50+ spaces, 356 teammates, and one very human way of working.

Today, we’re taking it a step further, unpacking what makes their approach to culture so brilliant.

We learned that at .fr, HR is a shared habit.
It shows up in small, deliberate gestures: trust from day one, flexible rhythms, constant learning, and careers led by curiosity.

In this short video, we’ve distilled 5 lessons Morning taught us about building a human-first coworking team culture: practical reminders that great teams aren’t managed; they’re grown.

If you believe culture is something you practice, not preach, this one’s for you.

And if you want to read the full interview with Marie, make your way to the comments of this post for the link.

Time for a visual breather.

A pause for your eyes,
a deep inhale for the mind,
a reminder that work feels different when it breathes.

Welcome back to Coworking Moodboard,
where this week, we explore how plants reshape the rhythm of work. 🌿

Plants soften edges and fill the gaps between people and space.
They absorb sound, light, and stress.
They bring movement to still corners
and balance to bold designs.

A few leaves can change how we feel,
how long we stay,
even how we talk to one another.

🪴 A tree growing between desks becomes an anchor.
🌿 A hanging garden turns ceiling height into emotion.
🌷 A bouquet on the counter can change the mood of a morning, proof that hospitality often lives in the smallest gestures.

In coworking, greenery is more than decor; it’s hospitality in photosynthesis.
It reminds us that spaces, like people, need tending to thrive.

✦ Collected, not created
✦ Pretty for the eyes
✦ Inspo for your next layout, palette, or rhythm of calm

Save for later.
Pause for a moment.
Notice the plants around you: what kind of energy do they bring to your workday?

💿 What can coworking spaces learn from Taylor Swift’s latest album The Life of a Showgirl?

I didn’t think a pop album would teach me something about community-building.

But here we are.

When The Life of a Showgirl dropped, I wasn’t a Swiftie.

Curious? Yes.
Obsessed? Not yet.

But something shifted.

It wasn’t just the music.
It was the experience around it.
The visuals. The tone. The pacing. The care.

It made millions of people, including me, feel part of it.

✨ And it reminded me of something we talked about at COMS – The Community Managers Summit:

We work so hard to build community in coworking.

→ More events
→ Better onboarding
→ Slack prompts and WhatsApp chats

And yet, we often ask:
Why isn’t it landing?

Taylor’s release made something clear:
It’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing it with intention, care, and a story people want to carry forward.

That’s what real community is.
Not fluff.
Not “vibes.”

🔁 It’s conversion.
🔁 It’s retention.
🔁 It’s what makes your brand relevant, without ads.

Taylor’s community just bought 4 million albums in one week.
Not because of gimmicks.
Because of trust, built over time.

So what can coworking spaces learn?

✅ People don’t just want access, they want to feel expected.
✅ They don’t just want perks, they want to belong.
✅ And they share brands not because they’re cool, but because they reflect who they’re becoming.

In an age of automation and AI, experience is what still slows us down in the best way.

It’s what people remember.
It’s what brings them back.
And no algorithm can replicate it.

So here’s the real question:

👉 What does your space make people feel?

Because that’s where community begins.

And that’s how loyalty is built.

If experience is your thing, follow .
We’re building the next edition of COMS and learning out loud as we go.

Culture doesn’t just happen. It’s designed, rehearsed, and lived every day.

At .fr, one of France’s largest coworking operators, Marie Barbier leads that work across 50+ locations in Paris.

How do you scale care, trust, and autonomy without losing the human touch?
You’ll find the answer in our latest piece: HR in Coworking: Inside Morning’s Human-First Model on our blog (link in the comments)

They didn’t arrive together.
Some flew in from Japan, others came from Sofia, or just a few streets away in Brighton. Different journeys, same purpose: shaping the kind of workplaces people actually want to be part of.

That’s the thing about purpose; we often share it long before we share a table.

Before that moment, none of them really knew each other, even though 3 attendees in this picture work for 3 different coworking brands in the same city.

But somehow, sitting at the same table, with coffee rings, Post-its, and a question that didn’t have one right answer, something clicked.

Conversations started flowing.
Ideas bounced. Notes piled up.
Stories overlapped, and you could almost see relief appear in the room: the kind that surfaces when what you hear starts to sound like mirrors.

That’s what COMS is about.
A space that lets community managers pause, reflect, and reconnect with the meaning behind what they do every day.

They didn’t arrive together,
but they left carrying pieces of each other’s stories.

That’s what COMS is about.
A space that lets community managers pause, reflect, and reconnect with the meaning behind what they do every day.

We’re already building the next one.
If you want to be part of it, stay in the loop for COMS 2026 → https://coms.coworkies.com

Time for a visual breather.

A pause between tasks,
a stretch for the mind,
a reminder that even walls can talk, if we design them to.

Welcome back to Coworking Moodboard,
where this week, we explore the quiet power of walls in shaping the workplace experience.

Walls that guide movement and conversation.
Walls that hold color, texture, sound, and story.
Walls that invite instead of divide.

A good wall does more than frame a room,
It shapes energy.
It can make openness feel grounded,
focus feel possible,
and collaboration feel intentional.

→ A curved wall that softens the sounds of an open plan.
→ A mural that tells the story of the community inside.
→ A writable surface that becomes a shared canvas for ideas.

Walls don’t limit, they liberate.
They create rhythm, intimacy, and belonging within the shared.

Today’s scroll is a small tribute to those quiet storytellers,
the ones that listen, absorb, and reflect the life of a community.

Our journey with Coworkies has always been, at its core, a journey of people. The ones who make coworking come alive.
Many of them rarely get the spotlight they deserve.
That’s why we are launching ‘Communitea’, a series to pause, pour a cup, and cheer for the people who make community work feel real.

And we couldn’t think of a better person to start with than .

Matt might not expect a post like this, but oh, he deserves it.

At Coworkies, we’ve always been fascinated by how people grow in coworking.
And Matt is one of the clearest, most heartwarming examples of that growth in motion.

We met him through Alex Young, who beautifully leads .
At the time, he was Area Community Manager, bringing people and places together with ease: a mix of calm, humor, and detail that made every interaction feel human.

We later had the joy of interviewing him for our blog, curious to unpack what makes a great community leader.

Then he came to our retreat in Marrakech
And this September, he joined COMS.

Each encounter with Matt has been like a good cup of tea: warm, steady, and exactly what the moment needed.
He brings quiet confidence, deep care, and the rare ability to make any room feel a little lighter.

Today, as Head of Sales at Projects, Matt continues to pour those same community instincts into everything he does.

Because here’s the thing: community skills do translate.
The way you greet someone.
The way you notice what they need.
The way you lead with curiosity instead of ego.
That’s what makes the difference, and that’s exactly who Matt is.

So here’s to Matt, for growing, giving, and leading in a way that reminds us why we do what we do.
And here’s to the quiet celebrations, the tea-break kind, that keep community alive.

More Communitea to come ☕️

Category: Office / Tech Rage
Status: Quietly testing your patience

You know the moment:
Coffee in hand, ready to start the day…
and then:

“Hey, um, can you help me connect to the printer?”

You’ve made the guide.
You’ve taped it right next to the printer.
You even printed it… on the very same printer.

And yet, here you are...
explaining it again.

This isn’t really about printers.
It’s about invisible systems that live in your head,
and the work it takes to design clarity so you don’t become the system yourself.

This is the second story in Open Tickets:
Real challenges community managers face every day.
(And what we can actually do about them.)

🧠 How do you handle printer chaos?

Midweek.

Time for a visual breather.

A moment to pause,
stretch your eyes,
and notice the beauty that surrounds us —
or sometimes hides in plain sight.

Welcome back to Coworking Moodboard,
where this week, we invite you to speak the language of color. 🎨

Close your eyes and imagine these spaces… completely white.
The hum quiets. The energy shifts.
The experience changes.

Color is more than design; it’s a language.
It tells us how to feel, how to behave, how to work.

🍋 Yellow invites curiosity and play, perfect for sparking new ideas.
🌊 Blue grounds and soothes, creating space for deep focus.
🍊 Reds and oranges bring warmth and connection, drawing people together.
💜 Purples hold a quiet intensity, sharpening flow and concentration.

Every shade carries a message.
Every palette sets the tone for how a space is lived in, not just seen.

When used with intention, color can also create inclusion:
a calm corner for someone who feels overstimulated,
a vibrant area that energizes a team,
spaces that welcome different workstyles — and different minds.

Today’s scroll celebrates spaces fluent in the language of color,
designing not just for beauty, but for experience.

✦ Collected, not created
✦ Pretty for the eyes
✦ Inspo for your next palette, layout, or mood shift

Save for later.
Pause for a moment.
Notice how color moves you. ✨

JUST DO IT.

Three words we kept repeating to ourselves when COMS was still just a wild idea on a Google Doc.

On September 4th, forty community managers from across Europe (and beyond!) came together for a full day dedicated to their craft: the art and heart of building communities in coworking spaces.

We laughed, we cried, we learned, and together, we shaped something that felt bigger than all of us.

This picture captures the moment we finally exhaled. A moment of collective energy, joy, and pride for what we’d built, together.

COMS is proof of what happens when you bet on community managers.

Thank you to everyone who trusted us, traveled, participated, and showed up fully. This is just the beginning. 🌱

Brighton, then and now.
A city shaped by stories.

Of gathering, of expression, of community.
For decades, people have come here to pause, reflect, and reset.

On September 4th, we’re continuing that tradition,
But with a future-focused lens.

COMS – The Community Managers Summit isn’t a throwback.
It’s a leap forward.

A space for those shaping the soul of workspaces
to learn from the past,
share what’s working now,
and build what’s next, together.

This is not just a summit.
It’s a collective step toward more intentional, human-centered ways of working.
Rooted in experience. Powered by community.

Brighton is the backdrop.
The future of community is the conversation.

💙 What if one gathering could shift how you lead, listen, and build community?

In 30 days, we’re bringing together a room full of people who get it.
The invisible labor.
The moments that don’t make the metrics.
The craft of creating spaces that feel like something more.

It’s not a conference.
It’s not a stage.
It’s a shared table for community managers, ops leads, and experience designers who want to grow together.

🐠 If you’ve ever felt like the only one thinking deeply about the “people stuff” in your space…
🐬 If you’re ready to reconnect with the why behind your work…
🐟 If you want to walk away with tools, insights, and friends you’ll carry long after the name tags come off…

Come to COMS.
