Here is our next participant: Ekaterina Tserr 🩷

Born in Voronezh, Russia, Ekaterina Tserr began piano lessons at the age of seven and later studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg. She has won prizes at competitions such as the “Sforzando” and the Stockholm International Competition and performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician across Russia and Europe.
She has worked with renowned teachers and conductors and is a recipient of scholarships from the Gartow Fundation, Rotary Club and the Leipzig International Piano Academy.

Today we are introducing Pietro Fresa 🩷

Italian pianist Pietro Fresa gave his first public performance with an orchestra at the age of twelve. In 2017, he performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 at St. George’s Hall in Liverpool, representing Italy for the “Bologna–Liverpool UNESCO City of Music” project.
He is a graduate of the Bologna Conservatory and the Royal College of Music in London. Pietro continued his studies at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro.
He appears regularly on stages across Europe, including concerts at Steinway Hall London, the Italian Parliament and collaborations with the Ealing Symphony and the Italian Opera Florence Orchestra. His Mozart album on Movimento Classical was streamed live on Rai Radio 3, reaching over 90,000 listeners.

It is time for the next participant: Akane Yoshida 🩷

Born in Hiroshima, Akane studied at Aichi University of the Arts, graduating top of her class with multiple awards. She continued her studies at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since then she performed across Europe and Japan. She is a prizewinner of international competitions including the Artur Schnabel and Brahms competitions. Akane is also a recipient of scholarships from the Paul Hindemith Society and the Swiss CLAVARTE Foundation.

Time for a recap! 🩷

At the ceremonial celebration of the 30th anniversary of Deutsche Telekom AG, two of our prize winners, and , had the chance to shine with a world premiere: for the first time ever, two people performed live together using Steinway Spirio technique par excellence – from two different locations. Hans Suh played live in Bonn, while Zhouhui Shen joined from the Steinway Spirio Studio in Hamburg! Here’s to many more such innovative and musically brilliant happenings !

Today we are introducing Ashley Wass, member of the jury at the Telekom Beethoven Competition 🩷

Ashley Wass has an international career as soloist, chamber musician, artistic director and educator. He is prizewinner of the London International Piano Competition and the Leeds Competition. Wass has performed with major orchestras like the BBC orchestras and the Philharmonia under conductors such as Simon Rattle and Donald Runnicles.

Currently Ashley Wass works as Director of Music at the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK and its sister school in Qingdao.

Today we are introducing Sandro Gegechkori 🩷

Sandro Gegechkori is a first prize winner of the Maria Canals and Arno Babajanyan competitions, he has performed in prestigious halls such as the Concertgebouw, Palau de la Música and Mozarthaus Vienna. As a soloist, he collaborates with major European orchestras and was named one of Forbes 30 under 30 in culture and style.

Today we are introducing Jiwon Jung 🩷

Jiwon Jung has won top prizes at competitions in Seoul, Zhuhai, and Moscow. He has performed with the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Salzburg Chamber Soloists and the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra, under conductors such as Antoni Wit and Massimo Zanetti. His international festival and concert appearances include stages in Munich, Moscow, Barcelona, and Seoul.

Let‘s start the week with a new participant: Jiyoung Kim 🩷

Jiyoung Kim from South Korea has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall, Gewandhaus Leipzig, and Konzerthaus Berlin and has appeared with top orchestras including the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony and Helsinki Philharmonic. She is an award winner of the Maj Lind, Tchaikovsky and Bösendorfer competitions and is performing actively throughout Europe and Asia. Her 2024 album release features works by Scriabin and Ravel.

Today we are introducing David Mareček, member of the jury 🩷

David Mareček is a Czech Pianist and music manager. He is known for his chamber music collaborations with leading soloists such as Jiří Vodička, Alisa Weilerstein, and Gautier Capuçon, as well as ensembles like the Dover and Jerusalem Quartets. His recording of Dvořák’s works for violin and piano received „Editor’s Choice“ in Gramophon and „Choc de Classica“ (2024).

Since 2011, he is CEO of the Czech Philharmonic, guiding it to international recognition, including the title “Orchestra of the Year” (2024) and a residency at Carnegie Hall.

Here is the next participant of the Telekom Beethoven Competition: Dongxu Jin 🩷

Dongxu began his musical journey at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and later received full scholarships to Juilliard Pre-College. He has been recognized with numerous awards across Asia and the U.S. and has performed internationally at festivals and on major stages. He is a graduate of bachelor’s and master’s programs at The Juilliard School and has been honored with several fellowships for his artistic and academic excellence.

We look forward to welcoming him to Bonn 🫰🏻

Next up: Ilan Zajtmann from France 🩷

Ilan Zajtmann began piano studies at the age of three with his father and gave his first recital as he was 9 years old. He studied at the conservatories of Lyon, Paris, and later at Yale, earning two Master’s degrees under teachers including Boris Berman, Boris Slutsky, and Michel Dalberto. He is prizewinner of international competitions in Paris, Geneva and Aix-en-Provence, he has performed across Europe, Africa, and the U.S. and recorded a critically acclaimed Chopin album in 2020. He is also a founding member of the Trio Solaris.

We start the week with a new participant: Jonas Stark 🩷

Jonas Stark is Young Steinway Artist 2021 and performed as soloist with orchestras including the Vienna Symphony, Munich Chamber Orchestra and German Radio Philharmonic, under conductors such as Marin Alsop and Kahchun Wong.
He is first Prize winner of the 2022 Hong Kong International Piano Competition and second Prize winner of the 2025 International Beethoven Competition Vienna. Jonas studied in Saarbrücken, London, and Hanover and currently teaches piano at HMTM Hanover.

We will see you in Bonn 🫰🏻
