"SONGS & WHISPERS" is presenting live music in venues in Bremen and other befriended places. We are putting on shows with international and local artist and are covering the genres: Alternative Folk, Alternative Country, Americana, Bluegrass, Singer-Songwriter and some unclassifiable music too. The network consists of the following elements:

“SONGS & WHISPERS” CIRCUITS – a monthly concert series through the northwest of Europe over 25 days. Usually, two to three artists per CIRCUIT are introduced. The concerts are generally free to attract more people. About 30 locations take part in the CIRCUIT and the artists play there regularly every month.

“SONGS & WHISPERS” PRESENTS – Individual tours through the northwest of Europe for selected artists, after having completed a CIRCUIT. Often, these tours go along with a CD release.

“SONGS & WHISPERS” SPECIALS – Special events in exclusive locations like the “Sendesaal Bremen” which is a philharmonic concert hall. We advertise and document these events extensively. SPECIALS take place in Paris, London and other European cities and are supervised by local artists.

“SONGS & WHISPERS FESTIVALS” – Self-organised festivals or performances at festivals like BREMINALE or the FESTIVAL MARITIM. For these festivals, artists from the CIRCUIT and the PRESENTS concerts meet several times per year and tour together. These festivals also support the network.

“SONGS & WHISPERS” STUDIO – A professional recording studio which the “SONGS & WHISPERS” artists are free to use! Our “PAY AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE” approach is symbolic with our philosophy and our motivation.

“SONGS & WHISPERS” LABEL – A professional record label which distributes CD’s as well as downloads, worldwide via our renowned partners CARGO RECORDS and ZEBRALUTION.

“SONGS & WHISPERS” @ SCHOOL: Our “Edutainment” – programme which enables direct interaction between the “SONGS & WHISPERS” artists and pupils from grade 6 to 13. The pupils work together with the artist and they are encouraged to discover their own musical potential. The artists perform in schools and the pupils perform at regular CIRCUIT concerts in the evening. Rivers Of England - EP "Marston Doles"

The title of the EP 'Marston Doles' refers to a quiet rural location on the canals in the heart of England, hinting at the reflective and pastoral but richly layered 6 music friendly melodic production.

The first track recounts a weekend away sailing with friends in the Norfolk Broads and the acknowledgment of the simple pleasure of witnessing the presence of the sun, the moon and the afternoon giving a relief from the despair of the modern world.

The second track ‘witnessing the tide’ portrays a more overtly reflective philosophising over civilisations’ sins and expressing heartfelt hope at how we can navigate through the challenges faced by humanity – using the analogy of a tide bringing inevitable consequences on our actions. The strings written and arranged by Danyal Dhondy provide a strong counter melody in contrast to Al O’Kane’s hypnotic repeating electric accompaniment, while the held bass notes provide a powerful foundation.

The EP was recorded at Nine Volt Leap Studios in Melksham with studio owner and producer Dominic Bailey-Clay playing drums, bass, guitars and synth as heavily involved producer and sound designer.

Rob reconnected with talented composer Danyal Dhondy to write and arrange string parts played by new members of the collective violinist Sue Lord; viola player Emma Hooper (yes, the famous author); cellist Jo Silverston and founding member Bill ‘The Goat’ Owsley on double bass.

Was braucht man eigentlich wirklich, um Musik aufzunehmen und zu produzieren? Dieser Kurs bietet eine praxisnahe Einführung in die Welt der digitalen Musikproduktion - mit dem Ziel, Einsteiger*innen eine erste Orientierung zu geben: Welche Geräte und Programme braucht man wofür? Wie unterscheidet sich ein rein digitales Setup vom klassischen Studio mit analogem Outboard-Equipment? Und welche Vor- und Nachteile bringen die unterschiedlichen Arbeitsweisen mit sich? Mit praxisnahem Studioaufenthalt und Einblick in Recording- und Produktionstechniken.

DIE ZIELGRUPPE
Der Kurs richtet sich an Musikinteressierte Einsteiger*innen, die einen strukturierten Überblick über die technische Seite der Musikproduktion gewinnen möchten – ohne direkt mit einer bestimmten Software arbeiten zu müssen. Eigene Laptops und Kopfhörer dürfen gerne mitgebracht werden, sind aber nicht zwingend erforderlich.
