Dive into the world of Romantic piano music with Schubert 4 Hands, the new album by French pianist Bertrand Chamayou and Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes.
Their artistic collaboration has deep roots. During a joint performance of the F minor Fantasy at the Rosendal Chamber Music Festival in 2016, the spark for this project was ignited. Andsnes had long admired Chamayou’s earlier Schubert album Wanderer and immediately felt a strong musical affinity. Both pianists studied with Jacques de Tiège at the Antwerp Conservatory, a mentor who taught them the importance of sharing music and trusting one another completely. This spirit of unity guides their approach to Schubert’s four hand repertoire, which demands close communication, shared breathing and a sense of becoming one at the keyboard.
Bertrand Chamayou is celebrated for his expressive French piano tradition, while Leif Ove Andsnes is known for his elegant Nordic clarity and emotional insight. Together they form a dream duo in the world of classical piano, offering listeners a powerful and moving tribute to Schubert’s legacy.
Experience their artistry live on December 5, 2025 in Berlin at Pierre Boulez Saal. 🎹✨
