Bansko in Bulgaria🇧🇬

📌 Bansko, located in southwestern Bulgaria at the foot of the Pirin Mountains (925m), is a premier, cost-effective, and rapidly expanding ski resort known for the longest ski season in the country (December to May).

👉It offers 75km of slopes, a modern gondola, and a historic town center, serving as a hub for both winter sports and summer hiking.

👇Key Details and Highlights:

🔴 Ski Area & Facilities: Located 10 km above the town, the ski area (2,000–2,600m altitude) features 35% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 25% advanced runs. It is renowned for the 16km ski run connecting the top to the base.

🔴 Town & Atmosphere: A combination of traditional 19th-century, stone-built architecture, and modern luxury hotels. The town is filled with lively restaurants ("mehanas"), bars, and a vibrant nightlife, particularly on Pirin Street.

🔴 Activities: Beyond skiing and snowboarding, options include ice skating, snowmobiling, and visiting thermal mineral springs in the nearby village of Banya. In summer, it is a hub for hiking in the UNESCO-listed Pirin National Park.

🔴Location & Access: Situated about 160 km from Sofia (approx. 2.5-3 hour drive) and 220 km from Thessaloniki.

📌Playa Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica 🇨🇷

👉Playa Manuel Antonio, located within the renowned Manuel Antonio National Park on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast, is a stunning, highly popular destination known for its white-sand beaches, calm, swimming-friendly waters, and lush rainforest surroundings.

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (Chamonix), in France 🇫🇷

📌Chamonix is situated in the French Alps just north of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe.

📌Between the peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges and the notable Aiguille du Midi, it borders both Switzerland and Italy.

📌It is one of the oldest ski resorts in France, popular with alpinists and mountain enthusiasts

📌Gressholmen in Oslo, Norway 🇳🇴

⚫ Gressholmen is a small island in the Oslo fjord, connected to the neighbouring island Rambergøya via landfillings.

⚫ The island has diverse biotopes. In the south-western part, you will find Heggholmen, which gives a decent view if you want to find waterfowl out in the fjord.

⚫ Also, the island has a few houses and a forested area, but also a lot of open and rather rocky terrain, especially the area which is connecting it to the neighbouring island.

⚫ This connection has helped create a shallow bay, which is a good spot to look for resting waders and ducks during migration.

⚫ Gressholmen is also a good place for summer birding.

⚫ Gressholmen is only accessible by ferry. There are hourly (and more) departures from Aker Brygge during the summer months, while you have to plan a bit better if you are heading out during the colder months.

⚫ Taking the first boat out is always recommended, as there will be fewer people and fewer disturbances then. For the timetable of the ferry see the link below.

⚫ The island has rather well kept paths, and walking is easy. There are rocks and roots, though, so watch your step.
