Filmmaker | Videoproducer | Media Artist Pipo Tafel (1979, Stuttgart, Germany) is a cross-media director and producer. Pipo is based in Köln, Germany.

Roccasecca Wandbild
Eine Zusammenarbeit mit Domenico Frezza, entstanden 2015 in Roccasecca (Latium, Italien). Die kleine Stadt mit 7000 Einwohnern zwischen Neapel und Rom bedeutet übersetzt “Trockener Fels”. Sie ist bekannt als Geburtsort des heiligen Thomas von Aquin. Die Initiative ging von Dr. Domenico Frezza aus, ehemals Professor für Genetik, der in Roccasecca geboren wurde.
Im Jahr 2014 ging Domenico in den Ruhestand und begann mit der Renovierung seines Familienhauses aus dem späten 16. Jahrhundert, das im Zweiten Weltkrieg von deutschen Soldaten besetzt war.
Während der Schlacht von (Monte) Cassino, 28 km von Roccasecca entfernt, die mehr als 100.000 Menschen das Leben kostete, wurde das Haus der Familie von einer Bombe getroffen und in zwei Gebäude geteilt.
Für diese Außenwand entstand eine schematische Darstellung des Blickes auf das Dorf weiter oben in den Bergen. Ein Spiel mit Präsenz und Abwesenheit an einer Narbe aus der Vergangenheit des Krieges. Ebenso eine deutsch-italienische kulturelle Zusammenarbeit über die Kraft und das Potential von Mensch und Kunst, alte Demarkationslinien zu überwinden.

Ein Kreislauf, so alt, wie die Existenz der Sonne, durch dessen Licht unzählige Tagesanfänge “durch die Ewigkeit schreiten” (Shelley).
Der fortschreitende Neubeginn morgen in Köln ab 5:23 Uhr. And the world keeps moving on, dreht sich die Erde um die eigene Achse auf ihrer Laufbahn um die Sonne.

Es ist wirklich dem Wind einer anderen Zeit geöffnet.“ Installation Dawn inspiriert von der Morgendämmerung. Der australische Komponist , mit dem die Entwicklung stattfindet, spricht oft von der Kraft des Neuanfangs , die er im Morgengrauen sieht.

Creation and creating connections to the world and the people is my purpose in life. I bring this talent into the world by crafting crossmedially and designing stuff that has a purpose of inviting the world of amazement to people- to invite them to make an experience and to be touched inside.
The question “what do you do?” leaves me numb. How to explain? But - and I avoid this little word “but” as good as I can, usually - as a creative thinker and maker within the diverse world of multimedia I move like a fish in the water of creativity.
When it comes to the question which tools to use to feed the creative process - then this is evaluated every time and as uniting different elements within a processes is like cooking to me I enjoy the process of search and find with huge pleasure - spoken in the terminology of cooking: give me five ingredients and I will prepare a delicious meal for you. Better: we do it together and choose ingredients of superb quality and make an amazing dish together.
A provoking strive for new creations as a driving element combined with an emphasis of innately and academically trained aesthetic education drives me in my infinite endeavour to create new things.
I am purpose driven within my obsession to discover new worlds and love to dive in the tasks I am given from every single new projects. To find out which element is key to success and the flesh and bone and spirit of my working ethics.
I was allowed to participate in very differing projects. I have always loved to develop new ideas. Projects as artist and producer such as the cross medial concept for SHADOWING (picture above; photo by Paul Schöpfer) that connects choreographic strategies with software development for an interactive museum installation.
In BREAKING as film director and producer an altered stage dance performance for the cinema screen was developed through analyzing movement patterns and adapting them to a visual concept defining movement tasks for the camera and editing.
For SPEED OF LIGHT RUHR as choreographer I created another multidisciplinary team from professionals of different art forms. In this "Connective Creation" a complete choreographic notation system was developed. It allowed 100 marathon runners without dance background to perform choreographic shows up to 45 minutes long - they did a series of seven differing outdoor light show live events within fours days with the help of these notations, performed in LED suits, in front of thousands of spectators.
I do not know boundaries to other disciplines until they hit me. Honestly, if it makes sense to the creation the disciplines of choice for creations are as diverse as you can discover in my portfolio.
