The new episode of BLACK WOMEN IN will be centered around the ethical production and female empowerment in the Caribbean and African coffee industry. My two awesome guests will be: Marshalee Valentine and Michaelle Kubwimana.

Marshalee Valentine is the Co-founder and President of “Jamaican Women in Coffee” (IWCA Jamaica) - a network, dedicated to the female empowerment of Jamaican women in the coffee industry. Her visionary
leadership has revolutionized the lives of female coffee farmers through impactful
community-based projects, elevating livelihoods and championing gender equality.

Michaelle Kubwimana is a the Founder and CEO of the sustainable and ethical coffee brand “Kawah Coffee”, based in Boneza, Rwanda. is dedicated to promote and empower women coffee farmers. “Kawah Coffee” is more than just a coffee brand, it’s a platform for uplifting communities, improving the lives of Rwandan coffee farmers and spreading the taste of Rwandan coffee to the world.

The first episode of BLACK WOMEN IN for 2025 will be dedicated to the cocoa industry and two African visionaries: Wezi Mzumara and Uzo Igweike

My first guest will be Wezi Mzumara - CEO of the sustainable and responsible chocolate company “Kwanza Cocoa”, based in Malawi.
Mzumara is a former pr and event manager, who dedicated her career to agriculture, since 2020 - becoming a full-time cocoa farmer and a chocolate maker. “Kwanza Cocoa” is an innovative chocolate company, focused on sustainably-sourced cocoa, developing high ethical standards for cocoa in Africa, and job opportunities for Malawian female farmers.

In the second part of our IG Live, I’ll introduce you to Uzo Igweike - the founder of the Nigerian chocolate brand “Loom Craft Chocolate”
Igweike is an engineer, who pursued a career in the cocoa industry, developing artisanal chocolate products for the conscious consumers. “Loom Craft Chocolate” is an inventive manufacturer, which main goal is to create a sustainable transformation in the Nigerian cocoa production.
