Das neue AUTOMOBILSPORT Magazin fühlt sich dem Geist von powerslide verpflichtet, das leider im April 2014 eingestellt wurde. AUTOMOBILSPORT Magazin wird die in powerslide gepflegten Themen weiter mit Leben füllen und damit seinen Lesern das gewohnte Spektrum in neuer Form bieten. Wie es der Untertitel definiert: Racing, History und Passion. Mit Bedacht drei Begriffe, die im deutschen wie im englischen Sprachraum vertraut sind. Denn es wird neben der deutschen auch eine englischsprachige Version geben, mit der wir - nunmehr vierteljährlich - die Lust auf Geschichten rund um den Historischen Motorsport stillen werden. Die erste Ausgabe widmet sich exklusiv dem Thema „PORSCHE IN LE MANS“. Die 24 Stunden von Le Mans waren eine Porsche-Domäne und sollen es wieder werden. Renommierte Autoren haben in ihren Erinnerungen gekramt und zum Teil bisher unerzählte Geschichten herausgefischt, illustriert mit teilweise noch nie veröffentlichtem Bildmaterial, die diese Sonderausgabe zu einer besonderen Lektüre in des Wortes wahrster Bedeutung machen. Und dieser besondere Inhalt ist in Wort und Bild ein Versprechen, bezogen auf den zukünftigen Anspruch von AUTOMOBILSPORT Magazin. Lassen Sie sich überraschen! Mit sportlichen Grüßen

Enrico Pinto was a natural talent on the road circuits and a crowd favourite, known for his highly aggressive driving style.

In 1966, at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo GTA, Pinto fought his way to second place overall at the Circuito Stradale del Mugello, finishing just over three minutes behind the winning Porsche 906. A strong result that underlined both his speed and his ability to challenge for overall honours in the GTA.

This weekend, historic racing returns to Estoril.

From September 18 to 20, the Estoril Classics hosts the penultimate round of the 2026 Le Mans Classic Series. On a circuit that staged Formula 1 Grands Prix from 1984 to 1996, nine grids will bring together several generations of racing history.

The programme ranges from the Porsche 917 K and Ford GT40 in Classic Endurance Racing 1 to the Porsche 935, BMW 3.0 CSL and Ferrari F430 GTC Evo. The Iberian Historic Endurance and Classic GP for pre-1986 Formula 1 cars complete the weekend.

With only the season finale remaining after Estoril, the championship battles are entering a decisive stage.

The races will be streamed live throughout the weekend on Peter Auto’s official YouTube channel.

40 years ago, Brun Motorsport celebrated a major victory in the WEC.

At the 1,000 Kilometres of Spa, Thierry Boutsen and Frank Jelinski took the Jägermeister Porsche 962 117 to victory, defeating the factory teams Rothmans Porsche, Silk Cut Jaguar and Sauber Mercedes.

Boutsen had already underlined the Brun Porsche’s pace in qualifying. With a lap of 2m06.870s, the Belgian put the 962 ahead of both Rothmans factory cars. From the front of an impressive field, he then led the opening lap ahead of the works Porsche 962s and Jaguar XJR-6s.

At the finish, Boutsen and Jelinski secured the victory for Brun Motorsport. Derek Warwick and Jan Lammers finished second for Jaguar, with Hans-Joachim Stuck and Derek Bell taking third for Porsche.

It was a very personal and emotional race for Thierry Boutsen, after having lost his team mate and friend Stefan Bellof at the same race the year before.

Four decades later, this Spa victory remains a fitting chapter in the history of Brun Motorsport.

Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille returns on 13 September 2026, bringing an exceptional selection of automobiles to the Domaine de Chantilly.

At the heart of the event is the Concours d’État, with 15 classes dedicated to automotive design, competition and heritage. Among them: Bugatti racing cars, Ferrari V12s, Lamborghini Miuras, GT1 machinery and cars from the Tour de France Automobile, culminating in two Best of Show awards.

The clubs are an equally impressive part of Chantilly: nearly 900 cars from 40 different clubs will gather across the estate, ranging from classics and youngtimers to modern supercars. Together, they turn the grounds into an extensive open-air display of automotive history and culture.

A distinctive combination of exceptional automobiles and French art de vivre — and one we are very much looking forward to.

September in our AUTOMOBILSPORT desk calendar looks to Nassau in 1963: the start of the Governor’s Trophy race at the 10th Bahamas Speed Weeks, with Roger Penske leading in the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport.

It is an image that brings together two strong names of American racing history — Penske and the Corvette Grand Sport — at one of the era’s most distinctive international meetings.

Pictures in detail: As concentrated as one could be while waving the flag for the winner.

In 1968, Director of ACI Florence Dr. Amos Pampaloni waved the checkered flag at the Circuito Stradale del Mugello for Alfa Romeo after the Tipo 33/2 of Bianchi, Galli and Vaccarella had completed eight laps of the 67-kilometre circuit at an average speed of 120 km/h.

In 1970 the Porsche 917 has become part of Larrousse’s Le Mans story: He drove Porsche 917 043 together with Willi Kauhsen and took the striking longtail to second place overall in 1970.

In 1971, Gérard Larrousse returned to Le Mans with Martini Racing, sharing Porsche 917 042 LH with Vic Elford. More than five decades later, his connection with the 917 remains unmistakable.

Porsche 917 043 is the cover story of AUTOMOBILSPORT Issue #48. In an extensive 12-page interview, Larrousse recalls his time with Porsche, his experiences at Le Mans and what it was like to race the 917, when being re-united with 917 043.
