Sound on, read on:

A few of weeks ago we were invited to a very special field (recording) trip here in Düsseldorf.

Music plays an important role in our daily studio life. And as some of you may already know, we (un)regularly team up with our close friend and musical partner Rolf Maier Bode every now and then – to create some musical output for client work or free projects.

So it was a big surprise when Rolf and Kai were asked to record, compose and produce an original track for an upcoming project called INDUSTRIAL.

The idea behind the project refers to Düsseldorf‘s unique music history – as the city became the ‘birthplace’ of the so called ‘industrial’ music genre in Germany back in the 1980s. Projekt.INDUSTRIAL now takes this tradition as a starting point to bring together Düsseldorf-based artists and companies – music and industry. The aim is to take up the traditional ‘Industrial’ thread and transfer it into the present and into all different kinds of musical genres. Well established artists and young talents are invited to visit one of the participating companies and record sounds respectively collect impressions of the place. These sounds, images and thoughts then form the basis for new compositions – without any rules on how to use the collected impressions: Whether as an inspiration for song lyrics, background noise for a specific part or as the starting point for a track made entirely of sampled or field recorded sounds. The result is new music.

We had the great honour of being the first act to record – and it got even more exciting when we found out about the location we got: Düsseldorf Airport!

Here are some behind-the-scenes pictures of our recording day (taken by Johannes Boventer), along with some rough snippets of our recorded material. Thanks to everyone involved, it was a truly wonderful day!

Stay tuned for more infos about INDUSTRIAL (and the evolution of our track in particular).

In 2018 we were asked to come up with a modern yet classy and timeless logo for a new women shoe brand called ‘Thea Mika’.

The result is a simple but catchy combination of the brand initials ‘TM’ – combined with a flexible colour system that reflects the fresh and vibrant product range.

Since then the look and feel of the brand has constantly expanded and we are more than happy to still have the creative lead on pretty everything – from branding basics to packaging, lookbook(s), webshop, online ads, brand texts, photo concepts and loads of social media content.

All to be shown here soon – really looking forward to all the next steps to come!

New project in the making!

‘Next Level Knit’ is the name of our upcoming ‘upknitting’ label – transforming second hand sweaters into something nearly new.

Check, check, one, two, one, two.

We know it’s been a bit quiet here during the past couple of weeks. So did we already mention that the studio turned 12 a couple of days ago?!? No? Here we go!

Fingers crossed that the 13th anniversary next year will be remembered as the one when we all got together in person for a big celebration in the studio again. Can’t wait to see you (t)here,

Poster, 2021

Our contribution for this years Mut zur Wut poster competition was about cookies and (data) privacy.

Unfortunately, we are not among the finalists / winners this year - but it’s always fun to participate.

See you in 2022!

Pineapple fields forever!

Here comes another very extra motive we created for Greyder Lab to visualize the use of a natural leather alternative - a new and sustainable material made from recycled pineapple leafs - for some models of their ’Spring / Summer 2021‘ collection.

WIN! / WIN!

We recently found a few copies of our first ‘Double Pages’ publication in our archive – so here’s your chance to win 1 of 5 copies!

The only thing you have to do is to write your very own double page text proposal in the comments below (-> ‘Text left page / Text right page’):

’Come on! / Let’s go!‘

The 5 winners will be chosen very subjectively by two highly professional Open Studio members and contacted on Monday morning via DM.

’Thumbs up. / Fingers crossed.‘

‘Double Pages’ is an ongoing project that plays with similarities, opposites, contrast and context – in terms of both its form and content: Two colours, two positions and sometimes even two whole worlds – combined on two pages that set the stage for every viewer’s personal perception.

The project was officially launched during our ‘Creative Mornings’ talk about symmetry – so we additionally produced a limited edition of 300 copies featuring 32 double pages, more or less referring to the subject of symmetry …

Content creation for the ‘Spring / Summer 2021’ shoe collection of Greyder Lab.

’Lifestyle‘ shooting with Harald Schaack – and an amazing team that helped us to bring some fresh summer vibes to this windy winter day (!) in Düsseldorf (!!) during of a worldwide pandemic (!!!) … The entire photo shoot took place in compliance with all hygiene requirements and social distancing rules – and we’re super happy with the final result(s).

Many thanks to all involved for making this possible under these very special circumstances!

Here comes a bunch of image motives we currently created for the ‘Spring / Summer 2021’ collection of Greyder Lab. Our aim was to illustrate the brand’s green and natural approach in a colourful and blooming way – subtly underlining the fact that Greyder Lab shoes are made from up to 90% recycled and organic materials.
