Sound on, read on:
A few of weeks ago we were invited to a very special field (recording) trip here in Düsseldorf.
Music plays an important role in our daily studio life. And as some of you may already know, we (un)regularly team up with our close friend and musical partner Rolf Maier Bode every now and then – to create some musical output for client work or free projects.
So it was a big surprise when Rolf and Kai were asked to record, compose and produce an original track for an upcoming project called INDUSTRIAL.
The idea behind the project refers to Düsseldorf‘s unique music history – as the city became the ‘birthplace’ of the so called ‘industrial’ music genre in Germany back in the 1980s. Projekt.INDUSTRIAL now takes this tradition as a starting point to bring together Düsseldorf-based artists and companies – music and industry. The aim is to take up the traditional ‘Industrial’ thread and transfer it into the present and into all different kinds of musical genres. Well established artists and young talents are invited to visit one of the participating companies and record sounds respectively collect impressions of the place. These sounds, images and thoughts then form the basis for new compositions – without any rules on how to use the collected impressions: Whether as an inspiration for song lyrics, background noise for a specific part or as the starting point for a track made entirely of sampled or field recorded sounds. The result is new music.
We had the great honour of being the first act to record – and it got even more exciting when we found out about the location we got: Düsseldorf Airport!
Here are some behind-the-scenes pictures of our recording day (taken by Johannes Boventer), along with some rough snippets of our recorded material. Thanks to everyone involved, it was a truly wonderful day!
Stay tuned for more infos about INDUSTRIAL (and the evolution of our track in particular).
