SAMA (سما, Arabic VERB: soared, rose, climbed).
We, and .vertical, are beyond proud to present our new film SAMA to you. It is a documentary project very close to our hearts. We started three years ago with not even an idea. Now we soar with hope to carry our gifts, Voices From Beqaa, out to the world and its aufiences.
In the Beqaa Valley, where Syrian and Lebanese tensions simmer, Hiba and Sabine find strength in climbing. Through ClimbAid, they defy social barriers, pursue independence, and emerge as leaders. This isn’t just their story—it’s a testament to resilience, community, and the transformative power of movement. Climbing, as a tool of MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support), can be a powerful means of creating a resilient community where acceptance and resilience include everyone. In those troubling times, we need more of this.
