Tiger Fingers - Little Drummer Girl (Jimmy Edgar Remix)
Little Drummer Girl was a stunningly rich, diverse, and forward-looking EP from the Brooklyn duo Tiger Fingers, a collaboration between Jordan Lieb (also known as Black Light Smoke) and Asako Fujimoto. The release featured three remixes of the title track, each with a distinct angle and a clear sense of identity.

Jimmy Edgar contributed the final cut on the EP. His version took the original as a launch point and built from it a tightly coiled electro-boogie-jam. Funk-driven, rhythmically sharp, and packed with detail, it stood out as an inventive piece of club music that carried his signature. Another timeless gem for the Classic of the week selection.

This remix flows with a kind of quiet voltage. Pablo Bolívar warps the original into a low lit voyage, built on warm subbass, loose percussion, and synth washes that hover in suspension.

Small gestures do the work. A shimmer of delay and the way the groove holds just long enough before shifting. Each element sits with intent so nothings is breaking the haze.

Originally released in 2018 on hafendisko, it remains one of Bolívar’s most spatial and transportive reworks fully locked into its own orbit. A favorite and easy addition to our classic of the week selection.

“Easy” by Snacks first surfaced in 2015 on the „Hafendisko Nummer Eins“ compilation, which brought together highlights from the label. Built around a low slung groove, soft focus chords it captured the duo’s sense of rhythm and restraint from the very beginning.

Still early in their collaboration, the Berlin and Auckland pair had already carved out a distinct identity. Loose, funky, and fluid, it remains a defining cut from Hafendisko’s early catalog and a natural pick for our Classic of the week selection.

Black Light Smoke’s Fire In My Head runs hot and close. The rhythm drags forward with a thick, heavy limbed pulse. It feels lived in, loose, recorded with the faders half pushed and the room still buzzing.

Dana Hom’s voice lands right in the middle, dry and exact, saying what needs to be said with no drift or delay. Every word sharpens the heat.

Jordan Lieb has released under many names, but this one cuts the clearest path. A clear pick for this week’s classic and a perfect addition for our selection.

A Hamburg mainstay for years, Remute (Denis Karimani) knows exactly how to slip out of the studio with something sly enough to keep dancefloors restless. Summer Slump, featured on hamburg elektronisch 3 via hafendisko, does just that. A tech groove that shifts shape while staying focused on motion. Mihai Popoviciu takes “M25” for a long, steady cruise. A slow ignition that tightens the rhythm before letting the synths stretch out and shimmer. Brynjolfur’s original, released on hafendisko, already packed a sharp sense of motion. Compact arps, clean lines, and a forward push that felt tuned for fast drives and late sets.
Popoviciu strips it back, smooths the edges, and refocuses the energy into something more streamlined. Still full of tension, just wired differently.

A standout in both their discographies. The kind of rework that sticks around and proves its timeless spirit again and again which makes it a perfect pick for our "Classic of the week" selection.
