Christmas markets anyone? German ones are probably the nicest but don't forget to bring cash. As a tip: visit small cute towns for a fairy tale cosy experience. Big cities are very overcrowded on weekends.

Did you know that with the Deutschland monthly ticket you can travel to the nearby countries for free? For example, you can take regional trains (and buses) to/from Basel Bad and even Basel SBB if it's a German provider.
