Swahili Records is an independent record label that specialized in traditional East African fusion and urban contemporary music singers/songwriter releases from artists that write their own music. Our releases are having a new impact as it is more than music, it combines culture and tradition from the last centuries up to the recent development of contemporary music.

This is a hybrid set we did with my group in Gängeviertel two years ago. My music selection and sound is mostly inspired by the music I grew up listening to back in Kenya 🇰🇪. Back then in the Uni I met Hakawati ( & ) and their music taste resonated with me leading to our first release - reconnect (available on Spotify and  music). In Hamburg I met Nabo Fonabo (vocalists in the slides), he is a genius on the mic. He gives me goosebumps when he sings! Can‘t wait for our release soon! SwahiliRecords (on the shakers) helped us organize our first gig in Gängeviertel. We hope to showcase our talent on bigger stages in the future :)
