Till Brönner announces his first release on our sister label earMUSIC.

Produced by Till Brönner and Andrea Nicole Conte, the new
album ITALIA will be released on September 5th.
The first single, "Viva La Felicità," is now available on
all digital platforms, it features an original drawing of
the famous Signor Rossi by its creator, Bruno Bozzetto.
Brönner spent part of his childhood in Italy. Through
these songs, he seeks to musically capture the spirit of
joy, discovery, and hope he experienced during that
time.

Out latest Album Of The Month is called "Lift!" and was recorded by none other than the famous German guitarist Volker Kriegel, who is also know for his work with the Dave Pike Set or as co-founder of the United Jazz and Rock Ensemble. This 1973 solo-release of the jazzrock pioneer combines jazz with funk and fusion and is worth many listens. Among others, Kriegel collaborates on this record with Eberhard Weber on bass, John Taylor on piano and Zbigniew Seifert on electric violin and John Marshall on drums.

Previously only available on Record Store Day, one of the most sought-after albums in our catalog is finally being re-released today after a long wait. "Happy Girl" by Nathan Davis was originally released in 1965 as one of the very first MPS albums from the then-young label.

American saxophonist Nathan Davis has long been known among jazz aficionados, but he chose not to pursue a stage career. Instead, he founded a jazz studies program at the University of Pittsburgh and taught there for many years. The album, which also features Billy Brooks and Jimmy Woode, is now available once again.

Heute erscheint die Reissue von "Free Jazz Goes Underground", dem ersten Studioalbum von Udo Lindenbergs früher Band Free Orbit - mit Peter Herbolzheimer an der Posaune. Als limitierte Vinyledition (1.999 Stück) sowie digital.

„Als wir 1969 ins Studio gingen, um Free Orbit aufzunehmen, war die Hippie-Bewegung auf ihrem Höhepunkt. Ein gigantischer, weltweiter Aufbruch. Als hätte jemand die Fenster der Welt weit aufgerissen und den Wind der radikalen Veränderung reingelassen.“ – Udo Lindenberg

Die Reissue lässt die ungebremste Energie und den ungestümen Idealismus der 60er Jahre wieder aufleben: auf CD im Digipak und als limitierte Sonderedition mit Ink-Spot Vinyl und 10" Bonus-Vinyl sowie von Udo Lindenberg selbst verfassten Vorwort! Erstmals liegen dem Album von Lindenberg und Beatrice Reszat verfasste deutsche Übersetzungen der Texte bei.

Bands wie Chicago oder Blood, Sweat & Tears mögen damals als Inspirationsquelle gedient haben, doch der Sound von Free Orbit steht für sich. Anders als der Titel vermuten mag, liefert die Band eine Fusion aus Jazz und Rock mit gelegentlichen Pop- und Soul-Anleihen, die auch geprägt ist vom teils melodiösen und gefühlvoll arrangierten, teils treibenden und energiegeladenen Sound der Bläserfraktion um den Posaunisten Peter Herbolzheimer.

"The Atacama Experience" by Jean Luc Ponty is back! A year-long musical journey by the French jazz violinist and his band capturring the music of different continents around the world. Also featured on this album are the guitar masters Philip Catherine and Allan Holdsworth.

Album of the Month April: With another Ponty reissue being released on May 9th (The Atacama Experience), we want to shine another light on "Life Enigma"! This special reissue from 2024, featuring new artwork and liner notes by the French violinist himself, holds a special place in his heart. Regarding this 2001 album, he comments: “This was a very special project because of the work I did with sound colors and atmospheres in addition to the spontaneity of our improvised solos.”

We’ve got a new Album of the Month for you: "I'm All Smiles" by Tommy Flanagan and Hank Jones! On this live album, two piano greats meet - more precisely, on two grand pianos - recorded in 1983 in Villingen. Both are incredible players in their own right, but they also blend their styles beautifully to create an outstanding recording. Tracks like “Afternoon In Paris” and “In A Sentimental Mood” sound great on this album.

The final two releases of Oscar Peterson’s Exclusively For My Friends series - "Mellow Mood" and "Travelin’ On" - finally arrive as standalone LPs on May 30th, available now for pre-order.

In "Mellow Mood" (Vol. 5), Peterson reunites with Sam Jones (bass) and Bob Durham (drums) to honor jazz greats like Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, and Gershwin. "Travelin’ On" (Vol. 6) brings the series to a close, blending gospel energy with introspective ballads.
