Indiecon is a joint effort of independent magazine, book, art print and zine publishers from all over the world. The two-day publishing festival is based at Hamburg’s Oberhafen, a former freight yard now creative quarter right in the city centre. The Festival brings together more than 100 independent publishers from all over the world. Founded in 2014, the two-day festival has since developed into

a regular platform for an international scene of publishers – and become an annual destination for 4,000+ visitors from media, arts, book trade and the creative industries. We firmly believe that independent publishing is an important part of a free society. Every magazine, book, art print or zine offers a glimpse into another persons reality. Riso Recap!

This year, we kicked off the main stage program on Saturday with RISOFORUM — a series of discussions and presentations exploring risography as a (famously infamous) tool for self-publishing and DIY printing, hosted by the Hamburg-based collective

Speakers shared insights into their practices, using the Risograph for animation, stickers, zines, and artist books.

Indiecon starts this Friday and we are looking forward to seeing you! As always, admission to the fair is free for the whole weekend.

There is a lot to discover, with more than 150 publishers from all over the world exhibiting and selling their magazines, books, art prints, and zines.

We’ll kick things off on Friday at 5:30 PM with an Opening Gathering. Come raise a glass of sparkling wine (or lemonade) with us and ease into an inspiring weekend.

Sessions start right after with a bang: Anja Charbonneau (Broccoli ) sits down with Steven Watson (Stack ) to talk about her decision to close the internationally celebrated magazine Broccoli – and use it as fertilizer to grow something new.
