no on talks about… period loss

more than 7 years ago, I got off the birth control pill. at that time, I had just finished school, moved to New Zealand and switched to a vegan diet. I lost a lot of weight and experienced crazy hair loss. thinking everything would go ‚back to normal soon‘ I just blamed getting off the pill. I expected my period to come back in a couple of months as the body needs time to adjust.

much later I realised it had been way too many months without my period already. I went to my gynaecologist and she was telling me that this was the reality for many girls, due to undereating, overtraining or stress. it made me question my lifestyle. I was convinced that I wasn’t stressed. so I started to pay more attention to eating more, slowly integrating a few non-vegan products to my diet, and doing less high intensity workouts and more yoga and pilates.

I expected my body to take a while to readjust.
