Breaking news 📌Switzerland is voting today on a proposal to cap its population at 10 million people.
-The Proposal: If approved, the country would be required to take measures to limit population growth, mainly through stricter immigration policies, tighter asylum and family reunification rules, and potentially reconsidering agreements on the free movement of people. Supporters say it would ease pressure on housing, infrastructure, public services, and the environment, while opponents warn it could hurt the economy, worsen labor shortages, and strain relations with the European Union. 🇨🇭

-Triggers: If the population reached 9.5 million, the government would have been legally forced to restrict asylum and residency permits. If it hit 10 million, parliament would have been required to terminate international treaties driving growth, including the free movement of people agreement with the European Union.

What do you think? Is capping the population a sensible way to protect Switzerland's quality of life, or could it create more problems than it solves? 🤔

The "key bride" and the famous "love locks" in Cologne (Köln), Germany, center around the (Hohenzollern Bridge).
The Ritual: After engraving names or a special date on a padlock, couples clasp it to the wire-mesh fencing of the bridge's pedestrian walkways. The key is then tossed into the eternal waters of the Rhine, ensuring their love lasts "forever".

On May 21, 2026, USCIS issued Policy Memorandum PM-602-0199 titled:

The memo strongly emphasizes that adjustment of status under INA §245 is not a guaranteed right, even when someone appears eligible under the law.

✅USCIS states that the normal process for obtaining permanent residence is through immigrant visa processing at a U.S. consulate abroad.

✅According to the memo, adjustment of status inside the United States should be viewed as an
"extraordinary" form of relief that allows someone to avoid leaving the country for consular processing.

✅USCIS also reminds officers that adjustment applications are discretionary. This means officers may consider the totality of the circumstances and are not required to approve a case simply because the technical requirements are met.

This guidance may signal stricter review of adjustment of status applications, especially for individuals who entered the United States on temporary visas such as B visitor visas, F-1 student visas, or other nonimmigrant classifications.

Do you know;
Kröpcke is the central square in Hanover, Germany. The square is situated at the five-way crossroads of Georgstraße, Karmarschstraße, Bahnhofstraße, and Rathenaustraße. It is named after Wilhelm Kröpcke, who started working at Café Robby, which had relocated to the then-nameless square in 1869, as a waiter in 1878, before leasing the café in 1885, renaming it Café Kröpcke in 1895, and operating it until he died in 1919. Eventually, the square adopted the name from the café and in 1947 was officially named Kröpcke by the city of Hanover.

Did you know that all snakes in Germany are kept in zoos?
Ever since I started seeing videos about snakes appearing in toilets, or other places in hotels it has given me anxiety.
But then, I remember snakes are kept in zoos unlike in 🇺🇸, so what would a snake be doing inside a toilet?
That thought alone calms me down instantly and I just wonder why I was even scared.
Germany really takes safety seriously, and it's something you appreciate more in small moments like this.
