When a book becomes a milestone, it marks more than pages — it marks a partnership. ✨
Celebrating 30 years of Kehrer Verlag and a creative journey that began in 2005 with “Jesus and the Cherries” — one of our publishing . With its iconic oilcloth cover, this groundbreaking photobook anticipated the now-prevalent trend of treating books as art objects.
This late summer, Jessica Backhaus’ vibrant images take the spotlight at Ragusa Foto Festival (28.08 – 28.09.2025), offering an intimate glimpse of rural Poland during a time of profound change.

Unravel the unseen with Filamenta, the by the artist K49814
Blood vessels like avenues, wing‑fins, fish scales—as if etched by old masters. Inkblots. 🖋️🐟 Swim bladders still filled with the breath of the fish.
In Filamenta, the artist working under the pseudonym K49814 weaves the endless filaments of the fish industry into these (wounded) delicacies like sacred embroidery.
This deadly, ocean‑emptying, human‑made threadwork stands in stark opposition to the filaments that run in magnificent nets through the cosmos and through all life forms on our planet—enabling a constant exchange of meaning and will: life itself.🌌🌍

This book aims to help unravel the destructive webs and enter into the process of communication within this grand fabric of existence.

“Celebrate death as we celebrate life.”
This is the credo of the Ga-Adangme in Ghana, where funerals become powerful, colorful celebrations of identity and legacy. Creative coffins shaped like animals, vehicles, or everyday objects reflect the dreams of the deceased, while choreographed dances turn mourning into movement.

For over 20 years, ethnologist and photographer Regula Tschumi has documented these extraordinary rituals and aesthetics. "Buried in Style" brings together her vibrant images and insights into one striking monograph.

📘📙 "Buried in Style" is out now with Kehrer Verlag, available in English and German

👁️ What does it mean to feel like strangers in their own country? 🐎

In his debut photobook I Am a Stranger in This Country, Frederik Rüegger documents the vibrant yet vulnerable world of Irish and English Travellers. Over two years, he visited horse fairs across Britain and Ireland—one of the few remaining spaces where these communities can still uphold their traditions. 📷

Set against the backdrop of rising prejudice and exclusion in post-Brexit Britain, Rüegger’s images offer a rare and respectful perspective on a culture often marginalized and misunderstood. His work captures pride, resilience, and the urgent challenges threatening this way of life.

📍 The book I Am a Stranger in This Country launches next week—Thursday, June 12, at 5 PM—at the in London. Don’t miss it!

For a relaxing Sunday evening… drift into the frozen beauty of Iceland with a 🤍❄️
In "Vetur. Frozen Landscapes of Iceland," Patrick Lefèvre transforms the wintry wilderness into a painterly world—harsh, poetic, and hauntingly still.
More than a travel album, these Pictorialist-style images unfold into a visual poem where each photograph could stand alone as a striking painting. 📷✨
