"We tested several lenses and then decided on the ARRI Rental DNAs, which were the perfect choice for this project. We wanted the film to have a naturalistic look, and these lenses gave us exactly that with their vintage character, beautiful falloff, and pleasing skin tones. When combined with the ALEXA Mini LF, the DNAs produced the visuals we had in mind for this film from the very beginning." "The ARRI Rental HEROES lenses were essential for bringing the magical and artistic world of 'F***y' to life. These large-format lenses perfectly matched our vision for what the film's universe should look like during F***y's dreamy moments of inspiration. I wanted a unique quality that could add depth and emotion to the imagery, and the spherical look of these lenses did just that, creating a sense of intimacy and warmth during these moments. Using the HEROES lenses helped us strike the right balance between realism and artistic expression. I dialled in 4 on the front ‘look’ scale of the HEROES LOOK lens 80 mm T2. This adjustment significantly softened the sharpness, increased the halation effect, and introduced more pronounced lens flares, enhancing the vintage-like characteristics of the lens and providing a cinematic, nostalgic look to the footage."

When a former science teacher, Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), wakes up on a spaceship with amnesia, he is forced to team up with an endearing alien to save the world. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and adapted from Andy Weir’s sci-fi bestseller of the same name, “Project Hail Mary” was shot by cinematographer Greig Fraser ACS, ASC, who approached ARRI Rental during the lead-up to the project for assistance in developing a specific visual style.

Selecting the ALEXA 65 as his main camera, Fraser wanted a solution for shooting vertical-squeeze anamorphic in the 65 mm format, utilizing the entire ALEXA 65 sensor to fill the taller IMAX image area by “squeezing in” to create additional height. The outcome of the collaboration was a completely new, custom set of anamorphic lenses that could be mounted sideways on the ALEXA 65, resulting in vertical flare, unique bokeh, and maximum image quality. 👨‍🚀🚀

“Unfamiliar” is a gripping thriller about two married former spies who run a safe house in Berlin, but can’t escape their killer past. Cinematographer Christian Stangassinger () shot the series with camera and grip equipment from ARRI Rental, including ALEXA 35 cameras with ALFA anamorphic lenses customized for the Super 35 format.
