Hot News from Baustellenburo: CAFÉSAFOR, a new book series of Artist’s books directed by Susanna Crispino and Vito Pace is coming. The first newborn is A Story in Six Words by Angelo Ricciardi: the power of words is also in what they don't tell.

A Story in Six Words by Angelo Ricciardi. Keeping its sought ambivalence between literary and visual work and using only six simple words, this tale builds an exercise of “video-writing” based on the assonance of the words and on a story that can be reconstructed only by the reader. Through his own…

TLG 2.0 - Through the Looking Glass 2.0
curated by Susanna Crispino

TLG 2.0 - Through the Looking Glass 2.0, a video art exhibition of the VIII Biennial of Arts of Shiryaevo curated by Nelya Korzohva and Roman Korzhov (Shiryaevo/Samara, Russia, 2013), brings together ten internationally well-known Italian artists around the theme of the truth of image.
The artworks by Bruno Di Lecce, Giuseppina Esposito, Giulia Giannola, Giuseppe Manigrasso, Vito Pace, Mauro Rescigno, Angelo Ricciardi, Roxy in-the-box, Nello Teodori and Angelo Volpe, exhibited in the extraordinary historical structure of Rocca Flea in Gualdo Tadino, means to promote a dialogue between the historical dimension of the building and the present one of contemporary art.
Like Alice through the mirror, each of us is able - thanks to the screen of his/her TV, mobile phone, tablet or PC - to find a world that goes beyond our everyday reality.
The speed of communication and the relative independence of sources (anyone can send pictures and experiences over the web) can inform us about any event in almost every corner of the world. However, the news flow makes each event lose its uniqueness, making it like a drop in a sea of other events and flattening it in an eternal present.
On the one hand, therefore, we are potentially well informed, but on the other hand the amount of news makes it difficult to navigate between truth and deception, between information and deformation and, ultimately, no one can be sure that reality is as it appears on the screen.
In front of it we are like Alice: sometimes we are frightened, others fascinated, but never neutral. Even if we do not want, we have always a comparison with the images, but can we really understand them all the way?

TLG 2.0 - Through the Looking Glass 2.0
