The funny part isn't that leg warmers existed.

It's that nobody questioned them.

Somewhere, someone looked at a pair of knitted tubes with no feet attached and said, "These are going to be huge."

And somehow...

They were.

You wore them with shorts.

You wore them with skirts.

You wore them to the mall, to school, to the roller rink, and probably anywhere else your parents would drive you.

The stranger the trend sounds today, the more normal it felt back then.

That's what made the '80s so much fun.

Fashion wasn't about blending in.

It was about seeing who could get away with the most outrageous outfit and somehow still make it look cool.

Kids today talk about minimum wage…
but a lot of us started working young for a few dollars cash,
a long day on our feet,
and the simple pride of buying our own jeans and gas.
No fancy job titles.
No “I deserve better” attitude.
Just hard work, dirty hands, and the quiet satisfaction of earning every single thing yourself.
That feeling of counting your first real wages…
knowing you worked for it,
and no one handed it to you.
Those days built character.
They taught responsibility.
They made us appreciate the value of money in a way most people today will never understand.
Respect to every kid who started early,
worked long hours,
and walked away with more than just cash —
they walked away with pride.
