Matthias Tanzmann’s influential Leipzig-born label celebrates a quarter century of groove with 25 Years of Moon Harbour. The eight-track compilation features long-time favourites and new school tastemakers alike, with the likes of Cinthie, Steve Bug, Mathias Kaden, Stefano Noferini, Defex, Luna City Express, wAFF and the boss himself all contributing.

Founded in 2000 as “a little musical home” for Tanzmann and his friends, Moon Harbour has since evolved into one of Europe’s most respected platforms for deep, tech and house music. “When we started, we didn’t think that far ahead. We just wanted to release our own music. Running the label for 25 years wasn’t something we could envision.”

The new anniversary compilation captures the full arc of Moon Harbour’s journey, uniting both early contributors and newer collaborators. “For the anniversary, we tried to compile new music of artists from the whole timespan of the label’s existence”, Tanzmann explains. “Luna City Express and myself were there from the beginning. Steve Bug and Mathias Kaden have always been in the circle, while wAFF, Stefano Noferini, Defex, and Cinthie represent the more recent chapters.” The result is a panoramic view of Moon Harbour’s sound - organic, groove driven and steeped in deep house and classic tech textures.

A year on from his last outing on Moon Harbour, Colombian Julian Collazos is back with a new single alongside American talent Vanjee. The wonderful 'Rumba' is a fiery jam that brings warm and sunny energy even in deepest winter. The joyous piano keys and string melodies jostle next to organic percussion, shakers and Spanish vocal chants while chunky drums keep the floor locked in. There's rare musicality and authentic Latin culture baked deep into these beats, which is why it is such an irresistible sound, especially once the horns and xylophone solo break out at the mid-point.

German-born but Ibiza-based Defex steps up to Moon Harbour to remix label head Matthias Tanzmann's classic 2016 cut 'Chano.' His fantastic take on 'Chano' maintains some of the original carnival charm and percussive patter of the original but turns up the groove. The drums here are warm, bold and dubby as they drive on with luminous synth stabs, raw hits, and the curious vocal bringing off-beat charm. It's a steamy sound for unifying dance floors of all sizes.

Two years after his last essential outing, Black Circle is back on home label Moon Harbour with another summer sizzler in the form of 'Jetski.' It is a deep tech house cut that brings late-night energy but with precision and soul. Muted cosmic synths drift in and out of focus while rich layers of organic percussion, toms and congas pepper the groove with a human touch. A moody Afro vocal builds in tension and helps make for a masterclass in restraint and rhythm that will lock any dancefloor under its spell.
