Nice microphone-shootout in the Lorraine / France in order to save some precious studio-time at the upcoming recordings taking place in the Provence early January. Laureen Thinnes Stoulig had her soprano move 15 mics which had been pre-picked out of the 50 available at Tonstudio Sonic-Impulse

By adding this beautiful trio, Sonic-Impulse now counts 50 top quality microphones! The 49 was number 48, the 47 number 49 and the 12 made the 50 complete. Sounds confusing? No, no, it sounds f**ing amazing!

And what better way could there be to celebrate this anniversary, then by ordering a second - stereo matched - Flea 12?!

Here's a snippet recorded at stunning studio Monochrom / Poland. At the end of the session we would have some time on our hands so we recorded a couple of improvisations. At one point me (the engineer) uttered some ideas - and this is the outcome of them. The amazing thing is that despite I never mentioned whom I had in mind when uttering my ideas, now everyone knowing him immideately would guess it when listening to the track.

It makes me happy to have at this point already three new recordings planned at Monochrom for this year already.

As the request to master for vinyl becomes more frequent, it was about time to look for a cooperation in terms of cutting laquers. I was very happy with the first cutting-session Sidney Meyer and I had. Here we hold the lovely outcome of four laquer-foils (double-live album "Gaststätte zum Heissen Hirten - Nebelsaft") in our hands in front of the Neumann VMS-80 cutting lathe.

Loved recording this, loved mixing this, loved mastering this. No surprise, as it features Julius Windisch, Igor Spallatti and Fermín Merlo. No cons, plenty of pros according to my knowledge. So just buy, then listen, then buy again for friends. Recorded last year, mixed and mastered this year, out today. Ah - it's a trio recording, btw.
