Hairy Wednesday. For today, just a few thoughts regarding our „style“:

When it comes to heritage and denim style, it’s not about following rigid rules someone else set. All the inspiration we find—whether on Instagram, in magazines, or books—helps us shape our own style.📖🖥️🧐

For me, it’s about three things: I have to feel comfortable, it has to feel like me—not a costume—and it must be practical for everyday life. Especially as a dad, I need to move freely, and my clothes can’t get in the way when I’m with my kid. I mean, I’m not going to wear a white shirt when I know my little one is having spaghetti with tomato sauce! 🍝😬

That’s my principle when adding pieces—whether buying or receiving. 🧥👕👖🥸

Most outfits start with the basics.

A few months ago, I saw a waxed canvas jacket online and immediately thought: “I need one of those.”

Then I looked at my already crowded wardrobe and thought: “Do I really?”

Instead of buying another jacket, I dug through my closet and found an old canvas chore coat from the Primark × The Stronghold collaboration. Not an expensive piece by any means, but well made and a perfect candidate for a little experiment.

Getting the wax was easy. Borrowing a heat gun from a neighbor was even easier.

The process took some patience and a bit of trial and error, but in the end it was absolutely worth it. The jacket now has more character, a richer texture and feels much more like my jacket.

Just a little reminder that not every inspiration needs to end with a purchase. Sometimes the next great piece is already hanging in your wardrobe — it just needs a little creativity.

Is there such a thing as the perfect shirt?

For a long time, I thought I already had it hanging in my wardrobe: a beige vintage cotton twill shirt. The color, fabric and overall look were spot on. There was just one problem: it was slightly too short to wear tucked in comfortably, yet a bit too long to look right untucked.

So when gave me the opportunity to create my own custom shirt, I knew exactly what I was looking for.

After a short learning curve, the configurator was surprisingly easy to use. What impressed me most was the level of customization and the ability to create something truly personal.

Today is a rare day off work because my son’s daycare is closed — which means I’m on full-time dad duty.

What’s on the agenda?

Starting the day with breakfast at the local bakery, followed by a little treasure hunt through the city library. Later, we’ll pay a visit to my new office building, and to round things off, lunch at the company restaurant.

Not exactly a wild adventure, but sometimes the simple days turn out to be the best ones.

Last year rugged guy of the week - what’s next?
This years Cover Model? ☺️ Just dreaming of… Thanks for the inspiration even though I didn’t actually discover the magazine until a few issues later.

A guy’s allowed to dream, isn’t he?… —I certainly have plenty of ideas for topics and conversation starters. Just wanted to put that out there 😉🫶🏼

Ready for some NVA Military Style meets Aloha Shirt action? 😎

Yesterday I arrived a few minutes early for daycare pickup and met up with a friend. Since there was still some time to spare, I shamelessly recruited her as a photographer for a few quick outfit shots.

You probably know by now that I have a soft spot for vintage military clothing from Eastern Europe. What I love most is that these pieces don’t have to be worn in a purely military-inspired outfit. Just like classic American military garments, they can be mixed with completely different styles and still work surprisingly well.

For this outfit, I paired a Strichtarn camouflage pant with an Aloha shirt, a mechanic cap and my new summer boots from Zardus. A combination that probably shouldn’t work on paper — but somehow does.

What do you think? Hit or miss?

It had been almost three months since we last managed to spend an entire weekend without the little one — so we made the most of it.

Lots of sleep, spa time, good food, relaxing… and of course a spontaneous little couple shoot in between.
The photographer? My trusty remote shutter, obviously 😉

And yes, I just happened to bring along the same camera gear I usually use for my outfit shots. Totally accidental, of course.

Honestly, it was just fun creating something together with my favorite person 🥰

The other morning on the way to daycare…
After weeks of searching, I finally found a proper liner for my 1960s Czech military parka — hidden away at an Irish militaria dealer and luckily even in the right size.

After a little repair work, it finally fit the coat perfectly.
The only problem: I completely misjudged the temperature that morning and it was already far too warm to wear the whole setup.

But once you finally complete a project like that, there’s no turning back halfway home.

And one more thing: the logo on my cap is a little nod to my former musical life. Back then I was heavily into Electronic Body Music.

Anyone here still familiar with EBM?
