🙌🏼 Meet the Meyer Sound Family!
Introducing the latest edition of our “People Behind the Product” series, where we celebrate the incredible individuals who make up our diverse Meyer Sound team worldwide. We are thrilled to introduce Arno Gramatke, Software Architect.
Arno helps shape the technical direction of our system solutions, ensuring they perform reliably and meet the needs of users. Arno’s collaborative approach helps our teams and partners build technologies that align with Meyer Sound’s standards and goals.
To get to know Arno better, we asked him a few questions about his work at Meyer Sound and life beyond the office.

Question: What is your favorite Meyer Sound memory?
Answer: There are many great memories, but two stand out and share first place. One is hearing the Bluehorn system for the first time in Bear’s Lab. I think we listened to Billie Jean. It was mind-blowing — I could hear details in the song I’d never noticed before. The bass alone had a distinctive character that had always been lost to me.
The other memory is Roskilde Festival. I had the chance to join our tech support team for Roskilde 2024 and experience first-hand how our software is used in the field. Seeing the dedication of the whole team was amazing. Oh, and honestly, working with all the great minds at Meyer Sound is a highlight in itself.

Q: What was your first job?
A: My very first job was delivering medicine to customers of my mother’s pharmacy on my bicycle. A little later, in the early 1990s, I worked for an audio production company where I helped set up PA systems — my first real hands-on experience with live sound in a professional environment. The company used to have Meyer Sound speakers like UPA and MSL-3. This was the first time I heard of Meyer Sound.

Q: What is your academic background and career path leading up to Meyer Sound?
A: I studied Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, where I earned my Ph.D. I was with Meyer Sound from 2014 until 2019. From 2020 until 2023, I was a Professor at THM University of Applied Sciences in Gießen, Germany, where I taught Media Networks, before rejoining Meyer Sound at the end of 2023.

Q: What book is on your bedside table?
A: I recently started reading Barack Obama’s biography. It’s an interesting read in these times. When I’m not working through that, I usually pick up a crime or thriller novel — the Reacher series is a favorite.

Q: What does a perfect day off look like for you?
A: Sleeping in, then meeting with friends and making music.

Q: What is an achievement you are proud of?
A: Creating Compass Go for Meyer Sound and bringing Compass to the iPad.

Q: What is your favorite gift you’ve given someone?
A: Not a “gift” in the classic sense, but it’s something I really appreciate from others and like to give as well: being there, helping out, and showing up when it counts.

Q: Sweet or savory?
A: That’s a difficult one. If pressed to choose, I would say savory.

Q: Dogs or cats? Do you have any pets?
A: I don’t have any pets, but I’d love to have a dog — if any.

Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
A: One thing many people don’t know is that I’ve been playing drums since I was little. I still do — rock band, orchestra, big band — and it’s honestly one of the best ways for me to relax.

🔊 ULTRA-X80 and 2100-LFC demo in Norway - what a success!
On November 11, Stageline, our Meyer Sound distributor in Norway, hosted a Meyer Sound ULTRA-X80 demo in Oslo, Norway.
Visitors could not only experience the impressive new ULTRA-X80 point source loudspeaker, but also ULTRA-X40 and ULTRA-X20, supported by all 3 Low-Frequency Control models - 2100-LFC, 900-LFC, and 750-LFC.

Arve Gotfredsen, Technical Support Specialist at Meyer Sound, gave a general presentation on Meyer Sound solutions and provided an insight into relevant software.

"After experiencing the ULTRA-X80, the overall impression was: If you need a powerful PA for a mid-size venue, a line array system is absolutely not the final answer", Stageline concludes.

See some impressions below! What a great demo day in Norway ☺️
