Sven Bonecke
Sven originally comes from the far north. He first encountered rare soul in the mid-80s – a moment that laid the foundation for a lifelong passion.
In the 90s, Sven was on the road with the Northern Soul Family. Together they travelled across Northern Europe, attended numerous all-nighters and were present at many scooter rallies. This period shaped him not only musically, but also through the attitude to life of a scene that still accompanies him today.
At the turn of the millennium, his career finally drew him – together with his wife and two children – to Munich in the south. There he quickly connected with the local scene and was a regular at the legendary Atomic Café, a place that was an important anchor for the Munich soul scene for many years.
To this day, Sven is a familiar face at European all-nighters and weekenders, but also at scooter rallies. His energy on the dance floor is unmistakable – he is and remains a passionate dancer!
But Sven didn't just want to dance: in 2012, he started collecting records and DJing himself. Soon after, he played his first gigs in his adopted home of Munich – at venues such as Substanz, Magic Potion and Atomic Café. Further performances took him to Hamburg, Leipzig, Nuremberg and Bamberg, where he was able to share his passion for soul with a wider audience.
Since 2019, Sven has been writing a new chapter together with Munich soul veteran Leo Ernst: together they organise the event series ‘Munich got Soul’.

Sven Bonecke
Sven stammt ursprünglich aus dem hohen Norden. Seine erste Begegnung mit Rare Soul hatte er Mitte der 80er Jahre – ein Moment, der den Grundstein für eine lebenslange Leidenschaft legte.
In den 90er Jahren war Sven mit der Northern Soul Family unterwegs. Gemeinsam reisten sie quer durch Nordeuropa, besuchten zahlreiche Allnighter und waren auf vielen Rollertreffen präsent. Diese Zeit prägte ihn nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch durch das Lebensgefühl einer Szene, die ihn bis heute begleitet.
Zum Jahrtausendwechsel zog es ihn schließlich beruflich – zusammen mit seiner Frau und den beiden Kindern – in den Süden nach München. Dort fand er schnell Anschluss an die lokale Szene und war regelmäßig im legendären Atomic Café anzutreffen, einem Ort, der über viele Jahre hinweg ein wichtiger Anker für die Münchner Soul Szene war.
Bis heute ist Sven ein bekanntes Gesicht auf europäischen Allnightern und Weekendern, aber auch auf Rollertreffen. Seine Energie auf der Tanzfläche ist unverkennbar – er ist und bleibt ein leidenschaftlicher Tänzer!
Doch Sven wollte nicht nur tanzen: 2012 begann er, Platten zu sammeln und selbst aufzulegen. Bald folgten die ersten Gigs in seiner Wahlheimat München – etwa im Substanz, beim Magic Potion oder im Atomic Café. Weitere Auftritte führten ihn nach Hamburg, Leipzig, Nürnberg und Bamberg, wo er seine Leidenschaft für Soul mit einem breiteren Publikum teilen konnte.
Seit 2019 schreibt Sven zusammen mit München-Soul-Urgestein Leo Ernst ein neues Kapitel: Gemeinsam organisieren sie die Veranstaltungsreihe „Munich got Soul“.

Leo Ernst (Deeper Shade, Munich got Soul, Magic Potion, Soulfood, Shoot your Cuffs, Going all the Way) - Munich

Leo... loves Soul (R&B, 6T's, Northern, and some 7T's & Modern Soul) as well as scene related sounds like Beat, Garage Punk, Ska and Powerpop. He has enjoyed traveling through the mod and soul scene since 1989. For Leo, music - especially soulful music - goes from the ears via the heart straight to the feet - he is a passionate dancer - and more of a DJ than a collector.
As a DJ he started with a little regular Mod & Soul club night through various local Bavarian and Austrian events and Allnighters to the Deeper Shade night at the Atomic Café in Munich as one of the resident DJs, as well as at the Target Club, the Soulfood Allnighter, the Magic Potion Night, the Black Cat Soul Club, Munich got Soul Allnighters, the Shoot Your Cuffs Mod Allnighters and the Going all the Way 6T's Weekender. Guest appearances at Beat the Clock in Cologne, Summer Safari/Soulsurgery in Leipzig, Hamburg Soul Weekender, Two Men from L.i.n.z., S.O.S in Vienna, O-Wow in Linz, Ballroom Bash Cologne, Beat Explosion Berlin, Absolute Beginners Rimini, Wake up Club and some more.
It's an honor for him to play some of his favorite records for a soulful crowd like this and to party and dance with you all night long!

Caroline Meißner:
Hello - Caroline Meissner here. I’ve been spending way too much money on records for almost 30 years. I don’t believe in rigid genre boundaries – anything that makes my heart (and hopefully yours) skip a beat can find its way into my record box: from soul and R&B to funk, garage, and psych: notably uptempo, preferably funky, definitely danceable. In 2007, I DJed for the first time at Frankfurts Tighten Up! and became a resident soon after. Later I got my own regular night with Keeping on! at Frankfurts Clubkeller. In 2012, love took me to Hamburg for a few years, where I became a resident at the Sugar & Spice Club. Now based in Mainz, I’m part of the Soul Stew DJ Collective, organizing Soul Events around the Rhein-Main area. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of playing as a guest at wonderful events like the Jester Wild Weekender (Leipzig), Topshake/ Soul Knights (Darmstadt), Love Trip (FFM) or the Night Owl & SingleKlub (Mainz) … and now I am really looking forward to spinning tunes and dancing at this years Munich got Soul Weekender. I just love it when the room is filled to the top with good music, dancing people, and that very special kind of euphoria…

Huhu, ich bin Caroline und gebe seit fast 30 Jahren zu viel Geld für Platten aus. Ich glaube nicht an starre Genre-Grenzen - in mein Plattenköfferchen darf alles, das mein und hoffentlich auch euer Herz zum hüpfen bringt: von Soul und R&B über Funk bis Garage und Psych - gerne uptempo, am liebsten funky und immer tanzbar. 2007 fing ich an bei Tighten up! in Frankfurt aufzulegen. 2009 startete ich daneben Keepin’ on! im Clubkeller. 2012 verschlug mich dann die Liebe für ein paar Jahre nach Hamburg, wo ich Resident beim Sugar & Spice Club wurde. Inzwischen wohne ich in Mainz und bin Teil des Soul Stew DJ Kollektivs, das Soul-Parties im Rhein-Main-Gebiet veranstaltet. Im Lauf der Jahre durfte ich auch bei vielen wunderbaren Veranstaltungen als Gast auflegen wie z.B. beim Jester Wild Weekender (Leipzig), Topshake/Soul Knights (Darmstadt), Love Trip (Frankfurt) oder Night Owl & SingleKlub (Mainz) … und jetzt freue ich mich sehr beim Munich got Soul Weekender dabei zu sein. Holly Holzwarth:
Holly indulged herself (not only) in soul music while spending countless nights on dance floors. Eventually she started djing and in 2010 she became co-founder of the all female dj collective 45° Degrees Soul Club Hamburg. Together they run regular club nights with (mostly female) guest djs from all over Europe. Holly still likes classic 60s and 70s soul but over the years has opened up to a broader spectrum. A perfect song makes either your feet move or it touches you deeply – or even both. She is delighted to play at the Munich Got Soul Weekender and will be giving you a good time.

Holly frönte (nicht nur) der Soulmusik und verbrachte unzählige Nächte auf Tanzflächen. Schließlich begann sie aufzulegen und wurde 2010 Mitbegründerin des weiblichen DJ-Kollektivs 45° Degrees Soul Club Hamburg. Gemeinsam veranstalten sie regelmäßige Clubnächte mit (meist weiblichen) Gast-DJs aus ganz Europa. Holly mag immer noch den klassischen Soul der 60er und 70er Jahre, hat sich aber im Laufe der Jahre für ein breiteres Spektrum geöffnet. Ein perfekter Song bringt entweder die Füße in Bewegung oder er berührt einen tief - oder sogar beides. Sie freut sich, auf dem Munich Got Soul Weekender zu spielen und wird euch eine gute Zeit bescheren.

And now we are happy to announce the second DJ guest of this year's Munich got Soul Weekender!

Jan Harris (Amsterdam):
As a young girl living in the UK I was introduced to Northern Soul and went to my first Allnighter in St.Ives (Cambridgeshire) at 15 years old. It was amazing, something so new and exciting...not only the music was so uniek but the dancing. I was totally hooked and could be found at a Northern Soul events most weekends up and down the country.
After moving to Amsterdam many years later I started up a soul club with Helen, Amsterdam Soulful, it was a great success, and at this point I started collecting vinyl.
In the past few years I have travelled to many European Soul events and have met so many lovely people. However I have never been to Munich so when I received the invite I jumped at the chance.
I love lots of styles of soul music which you will hear in my sets. From the gritty early sounds , popcorn/ rnb through to the funky edge northern, 70s crossover and modern. If I feel it, and I can dance to it, then its for me and hopefully for you too

Als junges Mädchen, aus dem Vereinigten Königreich, kam ich mit 15 Jahren zum Northern Soul, als ich zu meinem ersten Allnighter in St. Ives (Cambridgeshire) ging. Es war unglaublich, etwas so Neues und Aufregendes... nicht nur die Musik war so einzigartig, sondern auch das Tanzen. Ich war total süchtig und war an den meisten Wochenenden auf Northern Soul-Veranstaltungen im ganzen Land anzutreffen.
Nachdem ich viele Jahre später nach Amsterdam gezogen war, gründete ich zusammen mit Helen einen Soul-Club, den Amsterdam Soulful, der ein großer Erfolg war. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt begann ich Vinyl zu sammeln.
In den letzten Jahren bin ich zu vielen europäischen Soul-Events gereist und habe so viele nette Leute getroffen. Allerdings war ich noch nie in München. Als ich nun die Einladung erhielt, ergriff ich sofort die Chance.
Ich liebe viele Stile der Soulmusik, die ihr in meinen Sets hören werdet. Von den düsteren frühen Klängen, Popcorn/RNB bis hin zu funky Edge Northern, 70er Crossover und Modern. Wenn ich es fühle und ich dazu tanzen kann, dann ist es für mich und hoffentlich auch für dich.
Wir sehen uns auf der Tanzfläche!

Ralf attended his first Soul Allnighter in 1986 at KIR, Hamburg Altona.

Musikalisch in den 60s verankert, kann klassischer Northern Soul erwartet werden. Und zwar laut!
