Over 130 Security Agents K!lled in Ongoing Katsina Anti-Banditry War
The Katsina State Government has revealed that over 130 security personnel have lost their lives in the ongoing battle against banditry across the state. According to the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mua’zu, the casualties include more than 100 members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps, over 30 police officers, and several soldiers.
Despite the heavy toll, the government says progress has been made. Out of the 24 local government areas previously troubled by banditry, 11 are now fully stabilized, while nine others are showing signs of improvement. However, four LGAs — Faskari, Kankara, Safana, and Matazu — remain volatile, with frequent attacks still being reported.
Dr. Mua’zu urged residents to stay calm, avoid spreading fake news on social media, and continue cooperating with security operatives. The government also reiterated its commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes and strengthening the state’s security framework.
