Despite it being November, and very cold. We decided to hunt down a Tapa's bar which Irena has been nagging me to take her to.
One good thing about looking for new restaurants is that we end up in different parts of town we never knew existed, and are overwhelmed by the new sights we see. We found may lovely small shops, Cafe's bakeries, which we made a mental note to re-visit when the weather is more accommodating.
Finally we found the Restaurant, "El Español", we were early and knew we would not find it packed, which was good as we had no reservation, but it was Happy hour!
Walking in we saw a fully stacked bar with all sorts of wines, spirits, and Spanish beers.
We were shown a table and were made to promise to leave by 20:30, which we did, as we had 2 hours to kill otherwise.
As it was happy hour, we both ordered our favourites, Mojito, and a Margarita, both came as an eagerly awaited delight, to start the menu selection.
We decided as we are not Tapa's officeionaros that we go for a simple platter of their dishes, and we were very pleasantly surprised, to the variety, and flavour of each dish.
The sauces were delicious, with lots of Garlic, and spicy Charisio, which warmed us up on a cold November evening.
This made the cold Cocktails go down even easier, and after 2 rounds of cocktails, and a Beer we had finished our meal.
It was a very authentic meal, and excellent value for money, as we had our meal, 2 cocktails, a beer, water, all for €49!
We highly recommend this fine resturant, and next time i will sample the Paella, but it needs 2 people to share it, so i will bring more people!
