Winter & Winter is an internationally renowned music production, emerging from the JMT/Bamboo label. JMT/Bamboo was directed by Stefan Winter between 1985 and 1995 to document the contemporary developments of the jazz world, especially in New York. Since 1995, Stefan Winter and Mariko Takahashi develop a new, cross-border concept and found in the following years Winter & Winter in order to unite t

he currents of classical, contemporary and improvised music, as well as music from around the world. The special features include Audiofilms ("Cinema for closed eyes" as headlined by the magazine Der Spiegel). These sound stories originate on roads, streets, squares, in abandoned churches, barns, backyards, sometimes even in lofts, vaudevilles and on stage. The collage of recording situations rely on the narrative power of noises and music. In 2003 Winter & Winter started to release film productions (Film Edition) and after 2007 audiobooks (Literatur Edition) were added to the program. The visual appearance is carried out with works of the artists, photographers and graphic designers around the world.

TONALITY THEATER, Part V
„The Glass Cage (Epilogue)“
7-hour live performance by Gareth Davis [bcl] / in Photo
with 7-channel video and 14-channel sound installation

Composition: Fumio Yasuda
Artists in the video installation: Anne Gillot [rec, great bass rec], Sool Park [Philosophy], Julie Läderach [vlc], Eric Zwang Eriksson [noise art], Masako Ohta [harm, koto], Teodoro Anzellotti [acc] and Breeanne Saxton [dance, voc, elec]
Room installation: Mariko Takahashi and Stefan Winter

The 7-hour experiment: The performance space becomes a surveillance centre. 7 video cameras, viewable on 7 monitors, observe 7 artists who are locked up separately from each other for 7 hours. In the performance space stands a Glass Cage in which Gareth Davis is placed in solitary confinement. He performs live for 7 hours, confronted with the 7 transmissions from the 7 surveillance cameras.
The audience is offered the chance to experience sound art in its development and to become part of this process through their presence and thus through their existence.
