Live at Der Cult - nightclub & more / August 2nd, 2025
Born in Mexico City, Espectra Negra became an important part of the political punk scene in the early 1990s. In 1997 she came to Europe for the first time, where she explored new musical
expressions such as Brake Core and Techno. In 2000 she moved to Chicago, where she digested the US hardcore scene, focusing on the Latino and Black underground subcultures.
After living in Chicago, she moved to Berlin where she has since worked as a radio producer, experimental filmmaker,
sound designer, DJ, A.I. tech-tutor, curator, sound artist, noise producer and body art performer. Her debut album "Savage Justice" is one of the best printed releases by a solo project
from Europe entangling sonic collaborations with John Murphy
on drums [SPK and Last Dominion Lost] and Annie Stubbs on
vocals [Devotion and Sudden Infant], both strong independent
punk legends from the 70s era in Australia and the UK.
Since 2017 Espectra Negra established as a solid powerful
project from Berlin. The project keeps the old industrial sound
mixed with experimental, dark rythmic elements and sound art
creating a powerful mix known as Alchemical Sound. Her works
are influenced by SPK, Throbbing Gristle, COIL, Maurizio
Bianchi, Anne Guillis, Muslimgauze, Ghédalia Tazartès and
Merzbow, among many other outlaws.
Some of the most important live concerts have been at
Festivals such as Schlagstrom Berlin, Tower Transmissions
Dresden, WGT Leipzig, TRANSMEDIALE X CTM at Berghain
Berlin, Forms of Hands near Dortmund and Super Noise
Festival in Copenhagen, among others.
Espectra Negra’s long awaited new album was released 2025 by the legendary industrial Label HANDS which has become her
strongest ally in German context choosing her for their
international roster.
