Another new product that you can check out in our booth at Cremona Musica are our new Perpetual Stark strings for double bass.

The new Double Bass Perpetual „Stark” strings are a wholly unique development which in comparison to Perpetual „Mittel” have a fuller and warmer sound with an especially thick gauge. They are the thickest strings in our steel string range and yet their string tensions remain close to those of the Perpetual „Mittel” strings.

Back to school season is upon us and a question that we have been frequently asked is if a full size violin string set works for a small violin?

First of all, we recommend checking the vibrating string length of the violin. This is the part of the string between bridge and upper nut, also called mensur. Head over to the vibrating string length chart on our website to check which of our violin string sets fits the instrument's size. All of our violin string sets are offered in full size while, some of our synthetic and steel core sets are also available for small instruments down to 1/16-1/32 sized violins.

Tonica strings are also available for viola!
They offer the same reduced background 'hiss' so that viola players can also sustain a more even tone helping to achieve smoother string crossings. Tonica viola strings also produce the same lively well-rounded sound, perfectly balanced across all four strings as the violin equivalent.

Their projection and brilliance of the New Formula Tonica strings have been enhanced. However, this upgrade does not mean that the Tonica has lost its warmth. Due to their medium string tension Tonica strings are suitable for all instruments.

This week we would like to focus on our Tonica nylon core strings because they are great for professionals as well as beginners.
With their substantially reduced background 'hiss', players can sustain a more even tone helping to achieve smoother string crossings. This violin string set produces a lively well-rounded sound that is perfectly balanced across all four strings. With their highly responsive left hand feel, Tonica violin strings remain very easy to play all the way up in the highest positions.
