Edinburgh – June 12, 2025 – Dublin's St. Laurence O'Toole won the 2025 UK Championships in a three-band Grade 1 MSR competition at the Royal Highland Showground in Ingliston, on the west side of Edinburgh, the first time a major RSPBA competition was held in Scotland's capital city in decades.

🎼Belgisch en Nederlands succes bij Ierse en Schotse Pipe Band competities🎼

Afgelopen weekend was er voor de Belgische en Nederlandse Pipe Band scene veel succes te vieren.

Tijdens de All Ireland Pipe Band Championships slaagde de Riverside Alliance Pipe Band erin om als band een 3rde plek te bemachtigen in graad 4B, met als kers op de taart twee keer een 1ste plek voor Piping en dus de trofee voor Best Piping. Een heel erg knappe prestatie als gekeken wordt naar het niveau van de graad 4B bands uit Ierland en Noord-Ierland.

Bij deze competitie slaagde piper Chris Lubbinge erin om met zijn band Manorcuningham All Ireland kampioen te worden in graad 2. Een mooi vervolg van het al zeer succesvolle seizoen en een mooie opmaat voor de eerste Major Championship van komend weekend.

In een regenachtig Annan wonnen Thijs Martens, Chiel Martens en Laury-Anne Boschman met hun band Royal Burgh of Annan Pipe Band in graad 2 bij de lokale competitie in Annan. Een mooi resultaat tijdens hun eerste competitie van dit seizoen.

Over het algeheel dus een weekend vol prijzen voor de Belgische en Nederlandse deelnemers. Felicitaties aan alle prijswinnaars en dit was zonder twijfel een ervaring om nooit te vergeten. 🎼🇧🇪🇳🇱🎶
