The energy transition has a hidden backbone: heavy transport.

We are proud to announce that Filippo Baldassari, Managing Director of the TII Group, will be speaking at Breakbulk Europe 2026 in Rotterdam.

His speaker session, “No energy transition without heavy transport”, will address one of the industry’s greatest contradictions: Heavy transport is both a source of CO₂ emissions and an essential enabler of the energy transition itself.

Without specialized transport solutions, there is no expansion of power grids, no delivery of transformers, no construction of wind farms and no large-scale energy infrastructure. At the same time, the industry faces increasing pressure to reduce emissions and redefine how future transport operations are executed.

The session will openly explore this tension while outlining a realistic path forward for the heavy transport industry — balancing operational reality, technological progress and the growing demand for energy independence.

Because behind every megawatt, there’s logistics.

Two massive columns.
One precise mission.

Our customer RIGA MAINZ recently completed two consecutive heavy transport operations in Kleve, moving massive process columns from the manufacturing plant to the RoRo ramp on the Rhine using SCHEUERLE SPMTs.

The first column weighed 451 tonnes.
The second followed with another 389 tonnes.
Over a distance of 8.8 km, the transport combinations had to navigate tight inner-city sections, intersections and narrow clearances before being precisely positioned onto the pontoon at the Rhine ramp.

Equipment used:
• 2 x 10 axle lines + turntable + 2 x PPU Z350
• 2 x 6 axle lines + turntable + 1 x PPU Z180

Projects like this demonstrate what SPMTs are built for: combining extreme payloads with maximum manoeuvrability and precise control, even under the tightest infrastructure conditions.

86 meters. Moving through villages. Day and night.

For a wind park in Germany, a total of 60 E-175 EP5 E1 rotor blades are being transported over 45 kilometres in three stages – with transport combinations reaching up to 103 meters in length. On the final stretch, the SCHEUERLE BladeLifter operates in self-propelled mode, enabling maximum control in the most demanding sections.

Tight village roads, serpentines, an aqueduct, gradients of up to 16% and changing weather conditions – from fog to snow and ice – require absolute precision from both technology and operators.

Three BladeLifter systems are in operation, run by the teams of enercon and Steil Kranarbeiten. Their expertise, coordination and commitment are key to keeping this complex operation running smoothly under demanding conditions.

At the same time, sensitive infrastructure and protected trees remain untouched. By lifting and adjusting the rotor blade, obstacles can be safely cleared without intervention.
